Klik of the Month 50 is a special occasion, and I wanted to make something special for it: so, I finished my first ever RPG! It ended up taking most of the day, many hours beyond the two hours allotted. It reuses a lot of assets from one of my many previous failed jam RPGs.
Thanks to Josh Whelchel and Kevin MacLeod for the music!
That was adventuring time well spent. Reminds me of my childhood.
[…] less like a compo game and more like a jam game, especially since I spent most of the day on that Klik of the Month RPG. But that’s ok! I really like the direction that this one is headed in. Post a […]
Lovely!
Also, most joyfully disturbing.
I agree with the gnome.
Rick Ross
That was probably the shortest RPG ever created. But it was fun while it lasted, and led up to a gag.
Ha ha, first RPG I finished since Chrono Trigger!
That was strangely beautiful Terry. Thanks for making it.
I just realised how many rats may have been cruelly slaughtered through jrpgs.
Hilarious stuff. The shift to the battle music was brilliant.
Fantastic! I really enjoy games like this that take a true to life look at what is commonplace in video games. Adventure on, pixel dude!
[…] there’s Terry Cavanagh, he of the Vs. Three games from him here: Hero’s Adventure queries the low-level animal killing we’ve all found ourselves wrapped up in so many times. […]
LOL! That was awesome and hysterical. And brilliant.
Sequel!
Terry, that is so cool!
Hero’s Adventure, Pathways, Don’t look back, Oíche Mhaith, etc. – my favourite small games ever!
Can you produce some more games like that?
Some truly nice stuff on this web site, I love it.

I love Terry’s stuff, the man is a genious!
….But as a longtime Pokémon fan, this “game” just felt like a “you-should-be-ashamed-of-yourself-cuz-in-Pokémon-this-is-practicaly-what-you-are-doing”-lecture. Don’t know if that was part of the intension?
I also felt the “plot” was unnecessarily dark.
Again, I love your stuff Terry, but this one just hit me in a wrong place.
