7DRL 2015, Day 7

So, that’s that! Here’s my build at the end of day 7:
It’s not finished. Today, I added FIRE.
I’m still working on this. Tomorrow I’ll talk a bit about that. Enjoy the build! If you’ve got any feedback, it’s very welcome!

You said tomorrow yesterday, you sneaky devil!
Sometimes I get stuck in a hallway with the only exit blocked by a guard, I can’t knock him out and get by. If I don’t have a lethal weapon there’s nothing I can do.
Oh wow, its much harder now, but really fun!
I love the game so far, and I can’t wait for the next update, but there are two main issues I have found so far: 1. If you do not have a lethal weapon, you cannot move past enemies, so if you are sandwiched between two enemies in a small passage, you die. 2. If you find an item in the overworld, you can leave and reenter that section over and over again to get a practically infinite amount of that item, which ruins the balance of the game, so some persistent data for the sections is important. Sorry for the big comment, hope this helps! <3
Checkpoints? It’s a little high on the learning curve for me.
Hey Terry, just wanna let you know I love this game so far. Have some ideas though.
1. Guards see body of other guard/drone, say OMIGOSH and searches for you
2. The trapped between enemies thing
3. Some cool sound effects (pew pew pew)
4. Cameras?
That’s all, thanks for making such a good game!
In my opinion, there’s not a lot to say in terms of recommendations! Great work so far!
It seems like you’re going in the right direction with setting and story – keep up with that and the features should easily flow together. The nice part is, depending on your concept, the game and items could be infinitely expandable 🙂
When you playtest for balancing the gameplay, try different strategies and approaches – mimic what various players would do. The different perspectives could bring about new enemy concepts and behaviors. I find this technique to be helpful to finding bugs too. 🙂
On that topic, I did find one unique bug – at one point I was shot and lost my lives by the guy in the woods… and the screen froze pure white. Sounds like a bug with timing, but I wasn’t able to reproduce it again. I had to refresh to play again.
Nice fire items in this update. A cool suggestion would be to use perlin/fractal noise to make the fire less noisy and more pretty, as apposed to flickering every frame. That flame thrower though… that was pretty awesome 😀
That’s about it! Best wishes with the development!
Great game, really dig the stealth. Just a note though, if I press the numbers 1 – 4 on my keyboard while playing the game, some weird glitch thing happens
