VVVVVV in Leeds

The Eurogamer Expo starts tomorrow in Leeds, and VVVVVV’s gonna be there! I am running a little behind schedule and had to work all night last night so that it would be ready in time… Although all the game content is in place, quite a lot of the in between cutscenes that tie the game together still aren’t written – so to have something playable for the event, I had to cut all that out and do something different.
The Eurogamer Build has a hub world (pictured above!) which ties all the game’s levels together in an easily accessible way – in other words, there’s no world map, no exploring and very few cutscenes. That makes a lot of sense for the environment of the expo, but I really want all this stuff in place by the time I submit it to the IGF on Wednesday night. So I’ve still got a lot of work to do…
If you’re in Leeds and you’re at the expo, let me know how it gets on! I won’t be there until the London venue…

by the way, if you’ve been in contact lately and I haven’t gotten back to you, sorry! I’ve got a lot of work to do and quite a backlog of emails
Can’t wait to see this game finished, i’ve been checking this page everyday for a month now, i’m really looking forward playing!
Good luck, i hope you’ll win
Awesome!
*Eyes the tasty-looking beta link*
I went to the Eurogamer Expo today, saw the game and really enjoyed playing it. Great map design. Look forward to a release.
I was in Leeds today (yesterday now) and really enjoyed checking out this game.
Brutal and sadistic in the great Jet Set Willy tradition but also just as addictive – as much as you want to smash the monitor and computer you will keep at it.
Great work guys.
Hi.
Best of luck with the game in Leeds and London- See you when you get back.
this was the best game at Eurogamer Expo, connot wit for this game to be out
BEST. GAME. AT. EUROGAMER!
Without a doubt, seriously. You made all the other games look rather weak (and im including the non-indie section in that statment)
Sure, the modern releases have real sparkle and shine with the 3D graphics etc, but underneath you have the same old game running over and over again.
Your game was original, well thought out and perfectly programmed. The puzzles were as frustrating as hell, but in the sense where you just keep coming back for more until you do it.
This is the gaming we all know and love, the gaming we grew up with and its something youve recreated so well with VVVVVV.
Keep up the hard work, ill be looking forward to getting VVVVVV
All the best,
Adam (RetroGameDepot)
I have to say, I’m with Adam.
This game was amazing, addictive, frustrating (in a good way), fun and it had a lovely retro feel to it.
When I was a’searching for various titles at the show I was dismayed to see there was no playable version of VVVVVV yet! I shall be keeping an eye out for it in future!
