VVVVVV / VVVVVV 2.0 portable! (No distribution of game binaries)
« on: September 19, 2012, 04:32:13 AM »
I created an AutoHotkey script called PortableSaves which automatically moves save files so you can play VVVVVV from a USB!

(PortableSaves is designed to be customizable, so you can use it for other games as well!)

Quick guide for VVVVVV 2.0:
  • Download PortableSaves below
  • Put the game files for VVVVVV 2.0 on your USB
  • Put PortableSaves.exe and the PortableSaves.ini from the VVVVVV 2.0 example inside VVVVVV's folder

Done! When you want to run VVVVVV from your USB, just run PortableSaves.exe.

DOWNLOAD: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14277780/PortableSaves.zip

(If you want to know more about it, just read the readme).

Unfortunately, AHK is on Windows only, so sorry Mac/Linux users! :(

VVVVVV / Re: VVVVVV portable?

PC and Macs has different ways of handling binaries, so it's a no. However, Terry might be able to do a portable version and then bundle all the binaries with it (pc/mac/linux), and make them work the same and use the same level directory/etc.

I meant using the same save file, not same files. I don't mind using up space on my USB if it is for VVVVVV :P

VVVVVV / VVVVVV portable?
« on: June 06, 2012, 05:28:35 AM »
Any way of getting VVVVVV (preferably 2.0)into a portable app? If it can, can it support PC and Mac at the same time (as in, you can use the same file between PC and Macs)? I have VVVVVV on Steam (and HIB), so I have the installation files.

Sorry if this is a bit vague, but I would definitely like to play VVVVVV again at school when I'm bored! :P

VVVVVV Tech Support / Bugs in 2.0, Steam version w/ patched exe
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:52:45 AM »
Things that bug me (pun not intended):
Clicking out of the windows does not pause the game, potentially adding time to your record.
Alt-F4 is disabled. I use this to quickly close windows.
Sometimes you can flip in midair just after you drop off a platform. Most visible in Trench Warfare, when attempting to get the trinket the "fast" way.

Not necessary, but the trinket get sound has changed. Also, you don't get momentum when moving (was a bug).

EDIT: When pressing both left and right arrow, left takes priority. Can you change it to make it so the key that was the latest pressed comes in priority?

I was going to mention the Tower and Diode, but you have to change maps to suit reverse mode.

VVVVVV / Suggestion: edoM ??? (Reverse Mode)
« on: April 21, 2011, 11:09:41 PM »
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SUGGESTION.
edoM ???
No, it ain't crappy English. edoM ??? is Reverse mode, unlocked after you complete Flip Mode. The dialogue is backwards, but the sentences aren't, if that makes sense.
It's essentially Braid crossed with VVVVVV, everything goes in reverse. You start off at the end of the game, and you have to make your way BACK through the end of the game, UN-screwing-up the universe and returning back to where you came from. You get un-teleported to a random person's area, and have to un-save him/her and make your way back to the entrance. At the enterance, there is a teleporter. The teleporter un-teleports you to another random person's area, and so on until you only have Violet yet to unrescue. You un-teleport back to the ship, unrescue Violet, and go backwards through Space Station 1. When you get to the start, you get un-teleported to the start of the game, and that's the end of the game. A suprise ending could be something like revealing what happened before the start of the game, or other things like that.
Makes sense?
Probably not.  :(

VVVVVV / Epic glitch! Your mind = blown.
« on: January 24, 2011, 12:42:08 AM »

How to reproduce:
  • Activate Secret Lab cutscene.
  • Quit to menu when you are combined.
  • Go into Secret Lab.
  • Flip 2 times to activate the "before the ship" cutscene.
  • Go into teleporter.
  • Watch the glitchy cutscene.
  • Amaze your friends with an impossible savegame.

In 2024, Terry will release a sequel to VVVVVV, called MMXXIV, starring Max, Michelle, Xavier, Ximena, Indigo and Viridian.
