Other Games / Maia
« on: November 25, 2012, 01:25:30 AM »
Just wanted to congratulate Simon Roth on the new game he's making, Maia, aiming to be made for June 2013. If you haven't seen it, check out his kick starter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1438429768/maia
Looks fantastic, and I really hope it's successful. Best of luck to him.

I think story levels are by far the best, because it provides a change from all the same, next-to-impossible levels you get 'round these party  :verdigris:

Everything else / Break a record?
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:22:19 AM »
I just noticed the maximum number of people online ever to be 1916, and wondered: could we beat that? If we got everyone to read this post and come online at a certain date, say for example, Saturday 11th August, could we beat that?

I know it's highly unlikely, seeing as this forum is getting less and less visitors  :(. But anyway, it's worth a shot

Incredible idea, Incredible scripting. BUT WAY TOO HARD  :'(

Took about 5000 attempts on the arena, and literally rage-quitted after my 200th attempt at spike pit with a prize.

I'm not really sure if it does go out of time - my record is only 16 seconds  :'(

If it does eventually go out of sync, is it not ridiculous to suggest Terry might be able to shift the boundaries slightly closer/ further away? The only problem might be making the gravitron itself easier or harder, thus mucking up everyone's records

If VVVVVV is a roman number (555555) and if we multiple all 5 with each other (5x5x5x5x5x5=15625), then we get the same amount of all rooms on the map (400) + spikes in normal mode (7612) and flip mode (7612) + 1 together (400+7612+7612+1=15625).

Whaat, how long did you spend working that out... but congratulations, I may now have to create the sequel, VVVVVIV.

Ahh what, how can you hate that level? I mean, it's ruined a few time trials, sure, but surely just the name itself makes up for it? haha, look to the left of this message. That's how much I love it.

VVVVVV / VVVVVV gravitron suggestion
« on: May 12, 2012, 01:21:52 PM »
I was playing on the super gravitron (after spending a minute in the naughty corner of course) when I realised how annoyed I got whenever the bounce of viridian was slightly out of time with the music, and it got me thinking.

What if, after every time you die, viridian waits before jumping in again, to make him bounce in time to the music? This may be just too much time spent on bit.trip runner, but I genuinely think it could work. Thoughts, anyone?  :viridian:

How about CTF in VVVVVV?

I think that could actually work, however the programming side of things may be a bit more difficult...
Also, would traps be the only way to kill or make other people drop the flag? I think adding guns or whatever would ruin the game's style, but maybe something like a nitron grenade from tribes: ascend could work nicely?

Oh dear...

First of all, thanks for the picture information, will add them shortly (if this nightmare doesn't get taken down)

I knew there were some bugs, but I didn't realise just how many. I kinda need the trinkets and the text boxes to be there (otherwise characters could race to the end without exploring the rooms). I shall try to find a way to fix it, but I doubt it's possible. Thanks for the feedback

VVVVVV Levels / Agatha Christie's Poirot

You are Hercule Poirot, the famous Belgian Detective! You have arrived at the VVVVVV mansion, only to discover a murder! The plot thickens from there.

---WARNING---
This probably will contain many bugs, so please report them on this thread. Thanks in advance.

Here is the link: http://www.4shared.com/file/FG6_pIet/poirot.html?
I tried to find the most secure online file sharer I could... hope it works!

If the online were to have building in it, would it make it too much like minecraft/terraria?

It could be a deathmatch-type game mode, possibly where combatants must jump on each other's heads to kill them (a sort of multiplayer flip mario) However, I think this would ruin the entire feel of VVVVVV

Sorry to bring up an old thread again, but as I was reading through the posts about KittyRPG (I'm sorry it's not working, by the way. I was looking fowards to it) I thought it might be possible to use the same chatroom system used in that game in VVVVVV. Would that be possbile?  :verdigris:
