edit: Nothing to see here. (I tried adding checkpoints, but ultimately it just took away from the level concept.)

And thanks :)

The crew's stranded! Can Captain Viridian find enough energy cells in the Tower of Power to save them?

A fairly large, fairly easy level with a ton of scripting and a few unusual twists.  :)

- download (right click, save as...)

The single best thing about VVVVVV the thing that made it work, I think was that it had instant restarts from checkpoints all over the place. You could tackle incredibly hard challenges and failing wasnt a problem, since you were straight back in there for another go.

Yeah, Im doing things a bit differently.  ;D

The level's built up from several multi-screen challenges off a central hub. The levels aren't that tricky, so take your time, plan ahead and you should do OK!

What surprises lurk at the top of the Tower?

Is there a way to check if a flag is off? It would help me make a script only activate once.

Here's how I'm doing scripts that only activate once.

At the start of the game, trigger a script which sets flag x to "on"

Put a trigger zone for the once-only script, hitting a very simple script called scriptconditional.

scriptconditional:
ifflag(x,script)

Set up the script itself separately.

script:
flag(x,off)
... (all the other script stuff)

The name of "script" has to be lowercase or the jump from ifflag() won't hit it. You also have to do it this way round, as when ifflag() triggers, it puts black borders around the screen which don't disappear until a say() or a reply() - so your script needs at least one of those in, too!
