Anything but JustBASIC
How about an Apple IIe emulator, with this to help you?

Do some have a price, or are all free?

(i'd expect them all to be free because BASIC is old as f**k, compared to most computing languages)
The Applewin emulator I just linked to is free...

Nevermind, discovered Blitz costed some.

I stole an opportunity and got the version of BlitzBASIC I needed for free. c:

Why, just WHY, are you trying to learn BASIC?

Because I am on a quest to learn to program decent games liek Terry, and I am starting off with relatively easy languages.

Like BASIC!

Well, if you're looking for easy game-centric programming languages, may I also suggest Scratch and Python. I am an amateur programmer myself, and have used them to hone my skills. What would make them better than BASIC is because they are newer, so they keep up with good programming practice. What I mean is, BASIC reads programs line-by-line, where Scratch and Python can use objects, giving you more power. Right now I program with Java/Objective-C (aka iPhone and Android programming), so I advise you to at least give them a look.

There may be :shiny: involved...

Thank you!  :)

To be honest, I don't think that BASIC is a good way to learn a newer language (In your case, Java). Like I said, Python would be a better introduction.

FIQ

I've heard sayings that, learning BASIC as a first language gives you flawed programming practices when going to other (more powerful) languages, which are very hard to get rid of.

Not quite, but I definitely do not think of it highly. I just see no reason why it still exists. It has no advantages whatsoever over any other programming language. Feel free to compete with me on that statement.  :D

I guess it'd be a good pasttime, and it reminds me of VVVVVV scripting. o3o
