Software For Making Texture Packs
« on: April 09, 2017, 02:57:46 AM »
I'm trying to make a custom texture pack for my next VVVVVV level but I'm not sure what to use to make one. I'm on a mac so the default is preview (which is really bad for editing textures.) What should I use / download to edit textures?

It's not just that the tilesets use transparency and that Microsoft Paint can't handle transparency at all, he said "I'm on a mac".

Paintbrush would work well enough for editing textures. It's free, but last time I used it it had a few glitches that you have to get used to, like having to scroll to the top left corner in order to paste something onto the canvas properly (things might have been fixed by now, though).

GIMP works really well with transparency and layers, but you may have to learn a bit before you get the hang of it.

Paint.net is actually really easy to pick up, and it can be as advanced as photoshop if you have the right plugins.
(It also supports transparency)
