Negative Capability

So! Probably time for an update on what I’ve been working on.

For the last three weeks or so, I’ve been making a game for The Games Collective‘s Negative Capability pageant (which has been finished for about a week). It’s a game idea I came up with over a year ago, but hadn’t really the time to explore until recently. It’s almost completely text driven, and involves a lot of writing, which puts it a bit outside my usual comfort zone…

I’ve virtually nothing to show for my weeks of work, which is kind of depressing. As much as I like the concept behind the game, I think at this point I just want to move on. 🙁

Anyway! This weekend I’m going to recover by jumping right back into a new project. The other day I had this game idea which is literally the stupidest game idea I have ever had, and it makes me giggle every time I think about it. Let’s work on that instead!

Red Sky

At last Saturday’s Klik of the Month, I started making a game about interior decorating. It ended up being too complex to finish in two hours, so in the last half hour I worked on something else in Unity. Then yesterday, at the regular Cambridge meetup I decided to polish it up a little – I’ve expanded the level, added some background music and given it a name:

[Play Online]

Windows (6.3MB) | OSX Universal (10.6MB) | Unity Source (11.2MB)

I’m starting to get quite comfortable working in Unity! Hopefully soon I’ll be ready to try making something a little more ambitious with it.

TIGJam UK 3

Tickets are now available for TIGJam UK 3, which is being held in Cambridge again. I’m really looking forward to this – it’s the first big proper jam here since I moved! The last TIGJam was the weekend after I finished up VVVVVV, and I didn’t really have the energy to do much of anything. This time I hope to do a much better job of meeting people and collaborating!

Interested in coming? You can find out more here!
