Congratulations – hope it does really well for you.
Congratulations! I don’t have an iOS device, so I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

apparently 8.7% of players have already completed Hyper Hexagonest, I’m worried
Steam is offering a 2-pack for 3.34
I don’t understand what you actually get apart from the super hexagon game.
Best game description in Steam history
Oh man, oh man!
The description is amazing.
One thing that’s really bothering me in this version is that it takes longer to restart. On iOS you can restart as soon as you die but on the PC version you have to wait until your score is displayed. It’s only half a second longer but half a second is a long time in this game.
Kyle: Are you playing on Mac? Right now there’s a bug that I’m rushing to fix! Sorry about that ๐
Really glad to see Super Hexagon on steam. Double dipping.
Thank you for releasing such a great game!!
I play under the name “Sigsig” on Steam and I would like to point out 2 things.
1. I don’t know if it’s just my PC but the PC version of “Otis” song is kinda bad.
2. The unique pattern that used to be on “Hyper Hexagonest” isn’t on the PC version. You know the one where you had to go right-right-left-left-left. Where is it?
Just bought the game, but when I try running it nothing happens. The superhexagon.exe process shows up in task manager but then quickly disappears. Any suggestions? Are there any minimum requirements for the game?
A Hexagon is the third-order permutohedron, not first. Otherwise, amazing game!
Man, it’s incredible how much easier this feels on a computer. I’ve owned the game for 15 minutes but I’ve already beaten all of the high scores on my phone.
1รขโยฌ รขโฐย 1$
but don’t worry I’m totally fine paying 2 euros for this game ๐
Hey Terry, congrats! Is this gonna be released from DRM-free sites like gog.com? Or is it Steam-exclusive?
did the bugfix you pushed fix the fact that it starts in arcade mode on first run?
Grats! Got my 2-pack as soon as I sat down.

================================================
Never mind this. It DOES appear but it’s really rare. You don’t get this pattern very often like in iOS version it appears like 3 or 4 times in a row ๐
You’re imagining it, I didn’t change any pattern distributions ๐
Hmm. I’ll echo Kyle and say that the Enter Name High score thing is really annoying, especially forcing you to enter a name with the arrow keys when it’s a PC game with a keyboard, and having delete as the default option instead of enter. The lack of online leaderboards is also a bummer.
I’m also a bit sad that I beat Hexagon, Hexagoner, and Hexagonest, and didn’t get the ending cinematic (and Steam achievements didn’t register?) like on iOS. And I think having the Hyper stages automatically unlocked removes the sense of progression on the iOS version.
WHY IS THIS SO HARD.
Still trying to beat hexagonest. Great port, thanks ๐
Terry, no I’m not on a Mac. Just Windows.
I was convinced that there’s been pattern changes too as the unique pattern on level 6 is now very rare. I’ve been stuck on level 6 for 30-45 mins and only seen it maybe 5-6 times.
Also it seems like there’s less occurrences of any pattern chaining 3-4 times in a row. Did Flash have a bad random number generator?
My room is spinning after playing for 90 minutes on a 24″ monitor. I HAVE to complete all the levels in one sitting…
Terry-
I’m currently something like #20 on the Hyper Hexagonest IOS leaderboards and something like #9 on the steam Hyper Hexagonest leaderboards and I can confirm that it really seems like the pattern distribution has changed.
I would encounter the LLRRR pattern once or twice per game, easily, on iOS (not to mention the spirals). I have been playing on Steam for about two hours and have encountered the LLRRR exactly twice.
That said, this game is an absolutely amazing accomplishment. Great job!
Yikes, I think you’re right! I just looked at the code, there’s a typo!
Ok, fixing right away, thank you!
No problem!
I was wondering why it seemed EVEN harder than usual. ๐
Oh yes! And oh no, my productivity. Just bought three copies for myself and friends.
I came here to ask about the Hyper Hexagonest RRLLL pattern too actually, I don’t think I saw it in that mode apart from once past 60 seconds.
There also seemed to be a (really) minor graphical weirdness where two touching thin segments overlap slightly on the corner, making an x. I think only when the segments are moving outwards though.
BTW, is the ability to go backwards through the first segment or two of spirals a feature or a bug? It’s in the iOS version too.
Feature!
It seems to stutter at hexagonest level.
Dunno why ;_;
Thanks for a great game. Bought it the third time now (iPad, iPod and now Steam).
I never thought I should say this, but I really like the touchscreen controls the most. I feel sort of “closer” to the game when using my fingers on the screen instead of a keyboard/joypad. Not that I can’t play with buttons, but the tactile feeling of pressing you finger just long enough to get through a difficult pattern is pure awesomeness.
Like mentioned by previously, I have also experienced some patterns (like the rolling in Hexagon) a little more than on iOS.
Don’t know if it is my speakers, but the music sounds a little different on Hexagoner as well.
Wow, fixed already!
Arcade mode is a fantastic addition by the way, every game should have an easy way to give your friends a go.
it seams to me that there is some mechanic preventing you from “overshooting” in certain scenarios, like in a very spiny section, am I correct in this or am I just delusional?
Can you just title your next game “Terry Hates You”?
I think it’ll be slightly fitting. Loving Super Hexagon but jeesh is it hard… >_>
Can’t wait to get the Android version too!
Fantastic job Terry!
Personally, I think the speed of the player (triangle) is quicker than the iOS version. But it’s not too hard to get used to ๐
I find that this version is easier to get mad at though. Instead of throwing just an iPod out the window, I have many other things to throw. Keyboard, mouse, monitor…
Also, I was thinking. Too much. What would happen if you made a platformer with the design of “Super Hexagon”, but with the physics from “VVVVVV”? If you want to get crazy, you could add shooting enemies from “Don’t Look Back.”
Yep. Too much thinking.
Anyway, congrats again ๐
The game won’t start on my PC.
Everytime I try to launch it, it does nothing, just like aquivas (comment #12).
Finally completed Hyper Hexagonest. Steam says the total playthrough took 4.6 hours, 4 of which I imagine were on Hyper Hexagonest (and probably 3.5 of that on the buggy version).
I can complete the entire game on iOS in 15-20 minutes but the hyper levels really gave me trouble on PC. On iOS, I’d rate the difficulty something like 1 < 4 < 2 < 5 < 3 < 6, but on PC it's linear.
Maybe it's just the control scheme on PC isn't as good as touch and it's more obvious on the fast levels. I completed pretty much every level with a different method but overall I found the shoulder buttons on the 360 pad to be the best.
On iOS I always seemed to do best when the game was on mute or I had my own music playing, and that seems true on PC too.
Is there any chance of us getting a 7th level with the patterns from the black and white section at the end of Hyper Hexagonest? Looking at the leaderboards it looks like even you (i.e. Terry) immediately crash and burn at 66-68 seconds.
(Just started up the iOS flash version and it looks very ugly now.)
Finally… I don’t need to borrow an iPad to play! And shockingly, it runs perfectly smooth on my ooooold laptop. Well done Terry (plus whoever helped you port it)!
Hi Terry, Congratulations on releasing the PC version. My best time is 66 seconds which is on par with the iOS version. When do you plan to release the Android version? I’m looking forward to playing Super Hexagon on my Galaxy S III.
Thanks for the game, will be playing it non-stop for a few weeks I guess ๐
Three things,
1. “The vertices of a hexagon can be formed by permuting the coordinates of the vector (1, 2, 3).” – please paste some code to demonstrate this, I don’t get it!
2. sell me a DRM-free for 20 so I can play it at work
3. can you do a “pay what you feel >=2″ on steam? I wanted to pay more.
Love the game, but can’t get the Steam version to launch as others have noted. Tried running as admin, compat mode for XP but to no avail ๐ I’m using Windows 8 with an AMD graphics card…
Just dropping by to repeat that 1รขโยฌ is indeed not the same as 1$. Pretty disappointing that even indie developers fail to get it right. As a poor student every cent counts!
Oh well, still bought a double-pack and gave the other copy to my friend. Anyway, Android version when? I crave to play this on my phone as well.
Yikes, I think you’re right! I just looked at the code, there’s a typo!
Ok, fixing right away, thank you!
=================================================
LOL! I told you so ๐ Just played for a few mins and it’s now what it meant to be. Thanks for the fix!

Hell yeah, I demand that game! It has to feature Captain Viridian getting larger and smaller as he bounces in and out of the diminishing hexagon maze funnel.
If you don’t code it Terry, I will do so in spite of any unregistered patents!
So, any thoughts of a demo version? Hexagon doesn’t run good on my computer (key issues) and I don’t feel like buying a game and then realize that I can’t benefit of it.
Could you please spare a comment on the Steam-exclusivity? A simple “yes, it is” or “no, it isn’t” would suffice.
Hi Terry!
Are you planning to add support of analog triggers on XBox 360 gamepad to control speed of rotation?
Please up the frame rate cap to 120 if possible, for 120Hz monitors ๐
Yay ! As promised in the post about the “other” super-hexagon, I bought Super Hexagon as soon as I have been aware of its existence. 2 pack !
Well, shit. Looks like I’m not getting anything done today.
