Super Hexagon is now available for android! To celebrate, it’s having an 99c android launch sale!
Hats off to Laurence Muller, who coded the port, and made this possible. We’ve done lots and lots of testing and fixing to make this work well on as many android devices as possible, but of course, on as wide a platform as android, bugs are inevitable. If you encounter any problems, our android support page is here.
Aw, not compatible with Acer Liquid Express E320. I didn’t think it would be as my phone is pretty shit. Oh well, at least I have it on Steam.
Yeah, it needs a phone with a GPU, basically. Anything about equivalent to a 3GS in iPhone terms!
No nexus 7 support.
One word: Dissapointed.
Is there any possible way this could ever be compatible with the Nexus 7?
We’re going keep an eye on the situation with the Nexus 7. If it ever improves, you can be sure we’ll make it available on that device too.
CHAAAAAARGE!!! Let’s see how this handles on a Galaxy S II
btw, did you see the article I sent you? Y’know, the one from Argentina? 😉
I did, thank you! 🙂
You should add an option to set the sensibility. It feels way to sensible.
Won’t run on a Nexus 7 🙁
I love the game on iOS and Steam! 😀
Been waiting for this for ages! Now i can curse your name in public as well as at my pc! 🙂
Cool 🙂
Say, have you reconsidered about allowing translations for the game? I really think it would be a nice addition for the game (unless it’s too hard to make it happen)
“You should add an option to set the sensibility. It feels way to sensible.”
If there’s any game that *isn’t* sensible, it’s Super Hexagon, what with the insane difficulty, flashing colors, and crazy rotation.
😛
Game over.
BEGIN.
works on the HTC One V 🙂
Runs flawlessly on the SGS 3. Congrats on finally releasing it, I’ve been waiting forever!
BTW now would be some great time to post some tech details about the Android port. What made you rage in this port and how did you overcome these issues? Did you use native code?
Would have bought it but no nexus 7 support equals sad face
… Finally on Android… But no Nexus 7… :(… I’ll wait patiently… Meanwhile… Steam version is fine… xD…
How long will this sale last? I need to get a Google Play gift card for myself…
I’d like to see gyroscope controls. It’d be fun to have to physically spin your phone around while the arrow stays in one direction. =)
What is the ‘situation’ that needs to improve with the Nexus 7? Bought and playing happily on my Nexus 4 anyway…
It seems to work fine on my nexus 7 at the moment. Got to 15s on the easiest difficulty (because I’m an uncoordinated fool). I see no difference between the 7 and the 4 on the benchmark too.
The music isn’t playing. Is it unlocked after a certain point in the game? I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
A bit disappointed that the galaxy mini is not supported :/ it doesn’t look like a game that my phone can’t handle.
finally!!!! yessss!!!!! thank you sooo much!!!!
Would you consider re-releasing without requiring the “Full network access” and “Read phone status and identity” permissions?
For the person with the Galaxy mini, you haven’t a hope, that thing has an awful cpu, and the person wondering about the permissions, it needs then for high scores
Nexus 4 working without a hitch.
I’m getting pretty bad input lag on Xperia u.
Terry, is there a way to disable vsync, if that’s the problem?
Nooooooo! The game is completely unplayable on my xperia play… 🙁
Guess i’ll have to stick with the ios and the pc version
Galaxy Tab (the old 7″, single core) running AOKP Android 4.1.2
– running 99% smooth
:-))
Crashes on HTC Desire. Appears to be when it tries to connect to Scoreloop; as with internet on it will crash right away (it gets to the copying data files on first startup then crashes), with internet off it gets to the menu screen and then crashes.
It has the following stack trace.
01-19 14:09:47.156: E/AndroidRuntime(3262): java.lang.NullPointerException
01-19 14:09:47.156: E/AndroidRuntime(3262): at android.webkit.WebViewDatabase.getCacheTotalSize(WebViewDatabase.java:793)

Now it may just be my phone (custom, albeit basically stock 2.2 HTC Sense, ROM) as it is starting to do weird things (like no longer installing directly to sd card.
Anyway, pulled it off the phone and installed it on the Nexus 7, and to be honest I don’t notice any input lag. It feels very responsive to me, but then I haven’t played it on any other deviec, so I’m not sure how it compares.
This would appear to be related to above. Just before that exception, the cache didn’t create so would appear to have been passed as null later on:
01-19 14:09:46.676: I/Database(3262): sqlite returned: error code = 14, msg = cannot open file at source line 25467
01-19 14:09:46.676: E/Database(3262): sqlite3_open_v2(“/data/data/com.distractionware.superhexagon/databases/webviewCache.db”, &handle, 6, NULL) failed

01-19 14:09:46.726: W/webcore(3262): Not supported in this case.
If I may offer some feedback Terry?
I purchased the game on my Nexus 4, and then transferred the .apk over to my Nexus 7 to try it out.
Personally, I feel the experience is more than acceptable on the Nexus 7 – it’s fantastic, and virtually indistinguishable from the Steam version. The game is a joy to control and an absolute blast to play, even on the harder levels (if you discount the fact I’m bloody awful at the game!!!). Referring to your input lag issues you experienced, I really can’t see what the problem is, and I think the average user such as myself would have absolutely no complaints with regards to how well the game runs on the Nexus 7.
Of course, this is your game and I’m no super-duper coder, so I don’t know if I’m missing something crucial or not. All I’m saying is that, from the average Joe’s perspective (such as my own), the game is 100% fully functional on the Nexus 7.
however, that settings button on the naval bar needs to go. 😛
Bought for gs3 xfered apk to nexus 7 and it works perfectly. What gives, why is it saying its not compatible?
Been waiting for this since I began playing on the PC version. Runs well on Galaxy S2…however I have NO MUSIC playing! I am missing perhaps the best part of the experience! 🙁
FINALLY! already bought it, and after finishing it on ipod, i gonna re-finish it on android. Thank you Terry!
No compatibility for the Nexus 7? Bummer. My android phone is crap but my tablet isn’t. Any way I can buy this for the phone and download it on the Nexus?
@Ashley
I usually use Airdroid to move apps 😉
I was able to install this on my Nexus 7. I’ll have to wait till later in the week to sit down with it for an extended time, but I’ll post my results here.
First game I’ve bought twice! Thank you!
Now I’m just waiting to see a Linux-port on Steam 🙂
I can feel the inputlag on my galaxy note and it makes the game really frustrating. Is there any way to reduce this lag? Or any methods to turn off the V sync?
runs beautifully on my galaxy nexus
Finally i don’t have to look jealously to my iPhone friends playing Hexagon! I hope it sells as well as on iOS.
Terry I can’t seem to install the game. It just hangs my phone . Galaxy nexus
Thanks for this (super)(hexa)piece of a game!
Got Steam version back in the day, heh, and now I got this android lovely thing — Works beautifully on LG Optimus 2X, HTX Desire HD, girlfriends LG Prada 3.0 and even on my old Motorola Milestone!
Now to finally finish Hexagonest!
Music isn’t playing on my galaxy xCover, but i can still hear things like “game over”
Buttery smooth on Nexus 4.
Playing on a galaxy S2 and the music doesn’t seem to be working. Anyone else having this problem?
@Chiral_Spiral
Its working on my friend’s S2, but not on my xCover (no music)…
@ChiralSpiral and Anonymous-
I’m also not getting any music on the Galaxy S2…such a shame, hope it gets sorted out or the dev let’s us know how to fix it (hint hint…)!
