(Above: my favourite Super Hexagon Let’s Play!)

Hey! It’s now been a year since Super Hexagon came out on PC and Mac! (the iOS birthday was about two months back, so this is a bit overdue really).

One of the main things I aspire to, creatively, is to make things that will matter long after I’m gone. That’s a lot to ask – I don’t think I’ve done that yet, with anything I’ve made. I don’t know if I ever will. But I think Super Hexagon might be the closest I’ve come so far. I’m very proud of it.

An opportunity came along this week to put the game on sale in a new online store, and I decided it’d be a nice pretext to mark the occasion; one year or so since it’s release. So Happy Birthday! I’m putting the game on sale everywhere! This weekend only, Super Hexagon is available on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Blackberry for just 99 cents.

Thanks for all the support, everyone 🙂

  1. “It’s dangerous to go alone – take hexagons!”

Congrats, Terry – this is one of my favorite games ever, and few other can come close to matching the sense of accomplishment you get from finally FINALLY beating HyperHexagonest mode of this. This really is a special game.

  2. I just picked this game up from the Humble Store- it’s fantastic! I loved this game and VVVVVV. Happy birthday Super Hexagon!

  3. Haha! That’s a good video. He verbalises exactly the first ten horrific minutes of the game, including the strategy of training up on the harder levels …Which seems to work for ten seconds.

It also made me think. I wonder how many times Terry’s been called a bastard by victims of his games.

  4. Thank you for making this game, Terry – and thank you for all the others you’ve made as well. The amount of both pure enjoyment and emotional/intellectual engagement that has been added to my life as a result of your games is substantial. I am very glad that the success of your great games will allow you to keep doing what you’re doing; you are making exactly the games that I want to play.

Happy belated birthday, Super Hexagon! And many happy returns!

  5. I bought it because it’s a really nice game.

I thought about a “Challenge Mode”.
Two or many people are against each other with the same “obstacles”. Repeat the “game” 1..N times and the player who has the sum of times longer than the other win.

  6. Super Hexagon easily makes the shortlist of my favorite games of all time. It might even be at the top of that list, though VVVVVV is a strong contender.

Thank you for making these games, Terry.

  7. I did a video on my YouTube channel about Super Hexagon back in January of this year. Since them I have many games, some of them good and a few awful ones, but no game has ever come close to reaching the level of enjoyment I get from Super Hexagon! I’m not an expert in any way. My records are 68.33 in Hexagon, 39.43 in Hexagoner, 09.52 in Hexagonest and 12.05 in Hyper Hexagon.

Congrats on the anniversary and thank you Terry for creating this masterpiece!

  8. Love this game. I play it on iOS. QUESTION: any chance you could update it to be able to mite the game so we can play and listen to other things like music and podcasts?

  9. Happy belated birthday to the hexagon…actually, this was shortly after I first played it on android, 3 months later i’m still playing it every day and it still doesn’t get old (finally unlocked the final level just yesterday)
Any other games I’ve ever played so much before I eventually had to stop playing because they got too absorbing in a bad way, giving me bad dreams and that thing where you still see the game superimposed on reality (this happened to me very badly with the 2048 puzzle) but it hasn’t happened with super hexagon.

  10. hexagon is fav shape but nerd is bad as hell….. he cant even get 60 second on super hexagon…i can that
