Sigh, I've stopped counting how often I died between 59.00 and 59.59 already. 
But, yeah, occasionally, I do get there and then either do a fairly good run until
I take a wrong turn somewhere, making it a no-win situation, helplessly watching as the walls move in to crush my little arrow. Usually happens a second or two away from my current record.

Or I'm crushed as soon as walls start appearing

The ambient background music in the bonus mode is great, by the way! Any way to listen to it outside of the game?

I asked Terry on Twitter, and he replied with a link. 
He said it's just Focus (the Hexagonest tune), slowed down by a factor of 20. Still sounds awesome.
