Funny how a minor concentration break like that can screw you over in a game made up of psychedelic flashing polygons :P

Just bought it - only beat Hexagon so far, but this game is brilliant! Will play it a lot  :viridian:

Hexagon is the demo for Super Hexagon.

I just finished Braid. I think.

The gameplay was really cool, but the story... it could've done without.

VVVVVV / Re: To you, what is bad level design?
June 15, 2012, 07:06:01 PM
The thing I loved the most about VVVVVV itself was how many checkpoints were put on the maps. I think the main thing to remember when making a level, then, is to put in checkpoints after every single 'challenge'. If there's a non-Veni Vidi Vici room without a checkpoint, throw one in.

VVVVVV / Re: Just beat the game for the 10th time.

Nice one! I never bothered counting how many times I beat it, but I'm willing to bet it's somewhere in the region of 5 to 7.

Oh, and my first run was six trinkets in 2:12:36 with 4447 flips and 1301 deaths. Hardest room was The Final Challenge with... wait for it...

274 deaths. At the bit with all the gravlines. For some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to do it - and to be honest, it's probably the reason I love the game so much - because in spite of all those deaths, I did not feel frustrated at all. Takes a damn good game to make me feel like that.

Just completed Super Meat Boy (beat 'The End'). It was fun  :viridian:

Not as good as VVVVVV, but then what is?

The Kongregate version is just a demo - it wouldn't benefit from any of the changes in 2.0 onwards.

I got it (minus Bastion), and only played LIMBO so far. I didn't really like it... hope the rest of the pack picks up.

Doing Things the Hard Way was difficult, but at least it wasn't complex. You just had to master the left/right keystrokes. Edge Games, on the other hand... it took me around 100 tries before I realised I was doing it completely wrong. Definitely Edge Games.

And Gordian Knot was easy. Same with Trench Warfare - did the guy who chose that only play the demo? :P

I actually made half of a parody level which looked like it was made by a 5-year-old, with floating spikes, useless gravlines and single-width walls. Ended it with a section entitled 'Made by PJ' :P

That happens. Having an typed 'voice' that really reflects what you want to say/sound like is a lot harder than it seems.

Hell, it took 3 years for me to get it right, and I still screw up sometimes.
