Whoa, what? Me with a touch of me? That's confusing...!

I hate to tell you this, but it was just a mockup, and I have honestly no idea if Rox has ever thought more about making it into an actual game.

I have. Oh, how I have. It's a bit of a pipe dream of mine. I'm not sure when I'll be able to work toward actually making it happen, but I do hope I can, at some point...

Oh man, once again, well done to all of you for managing to get through this thing!

I beat this a while ago, and I loved it for its difficulty.

The Weep Like A Widow trinket (the hard way) is ridiculous, but I'm determined to get it. With recording lag I made it to the last room and almost got back to the second last room, but I held right too long and went into the right wall.  :( I'm now trying it without recording lag, and I've only gotten to the second last room. I've already died well over 3000 times on this challenge, but I'm slowly getting better. I won't be able to try again for another week, so hopefully I won't get too rusty. But when I do succeed I'll make sure to get it on video.

Also I like what you did with the other trinket. I would have never found it if I didn't draw out the spiral.

Excellent. I made that challenge for you, then. I knew a small number of people out there would just love to do things the hard way all over again. I never expected most people to even bother with that trinket once they figure out what it's all about. It makes me happy to hear that inclusion's working as intended!

This one was a bugger. But did it eventually. Loved the Lateralus reference throughout (obligatory +1 internets to you), and spiral theme of course inspired by the fibronacci sequence (any pretentious Tool fan will be aware that the verse of the track lateralus is based on the fibronacci sequence.) Any, kudos for making such a sh*ttingly hard level.  :violet:

Woohoo, Internets! Glad someone finally caught the reference! The song, which I discovered fairly recently, was a massive help when making the level. Half of the rooms wouldn't have existed in their current form if it weren't for the inspiring lyrics. And for those who don't know what we're talking about, I can finally link to this now that it's out of the bag!

The entirity of Golden Spiral, from the layout to the room names to the obstacles and the level name itself, was inspired by this song and what it represents: Lateralus, by Tool.

Well done on catching that.

Unless Magnus changed the name of the track, it's actually called "Max Confidence"
That was the original name of the track. It was renamed for the game because all songs start with a P.

As for you, CHz, good job getting through! I never liked Infinite Possibilities because of the way grav lines behave with the screen wrap. I had to add the little blocks, because without them you could slip right through the lines if you entered at the right angle at the edge of the screen. I've never managed to be killed by enemies on the other side of the lines in And Beyond, but I definitely knew it was possible. That was intentional. I just never, ever had it happen myself, so thanks for confirming!

I agree about Feel the Rhythm. That took me forever to get through when playtesting.

Nice, well done! Yeah, some room names are more fitting than others... Most of them worked out really well, though! Not to mention the cases where the room name ended up inspiring the room itself, like with Swing on the Spiral. Still waiting for someone to have an "oh, whoa, really?" moment regarding that, though...

I'm proud of that room. I know it's a jerk move. It's just one of those things that's frustrating the first time around and you have to trial-and-error for a bit, but I couldn't resist trying it out at least. And my own introvision to try to figure out what I, personally, would have trouble with seems to have paid off in spades, from watching other people play that room. It's like... reverse-reverse psychology or something!

Solution below! Super spoilers! Highlight text to find out the amazing secret to What Goes Around!

Yep, that little single-block platform isn't meant to be there. A friend of mine found it, as well. I've fixed that for an eventual future patch. The problem is that single tiles in a couple of the tilesets end up being completely black, and that makes it fairly easy to miss when you're roughly scribbling in an environment like I did in that area. Easy way to check for them in the current version of the editor is to switch to another tileset, then back again.

No, it was the room Firewall itself that bugged me. I probably just didn't see some secret to getting past those things, but... I've gotten pretty darn close by trying to run through. That can't be the actual way to do it, can it?
Not at all. Try backtracking!

Good level!

I never found the second trinket though!

Thanks! It's not that hard to find, just spend a few more seconds looking around.

Is this the level that had a room called "Firewall"? Because if so, it was extremely awesome and fun until that point.

Sure is. Care to tell me what bugged you after Firewall? I didn't overdo it with What Comes Around, did I...? I must say my exercise in psychology paid out wonderfully when I finally got to see a couple of people trying to solve that room, though...

This isn't intentional, right?

What? No, it most certainly wasn't! Man, I know exactly why that happened, too... It was a stray checkpoint that I forgot to clean up after. Hah. Well, if we can patch these levels, there's a fix forthcoming...!

I'll be honest... I haven't done it in one go. I didn't have time to playtest it as much as I would've liked. But I did inch my way through the whole section with the help of heavy checkpointing, so I know it can be done, in theory!

Oh my gosh, well done! I know what you mean with Swing on the Spiral and Step Aside. I know Step Aside would be very difficult to speed run consistently because of the random degree, but if you're patient, one thing you can do is hover on the last conveyor belt before the enemies and just wait to line yourself up. I know it's difficult to sit around waiting, but for that room, it's what I would do, myself.

As for Swing on the Spiral, there's actually a bit of a shortcut. If you leave the room to the right and come back in, the platform is in a position where you land on it if you just walk off the edge first thing you do. I originally had that room's checkpoint in the previous room for that reason, but I felt having to switch screens after each respawn was annoying on its own, so I left that little trick in there for the player to figure out.

I'm sorry. I really am. I had to make this, for those who can't get enough of a challenge!

This level is actually an homage to a thing, which was inspired by another thing that I, also, was inspired by while making this level. If you know what I'm talking about, hit me up for some free Internets or something! And even if you don't, please tell me what you think of this little piece of insanity!

I don't mind if you hate me for it.  :viridian:

My second level, a fair bit more substantial and thematic than Roadtrip. An experiment in partial screen wrapping turned into a full blown warpfest with this one. I ended up making it digitally themed sort of by happenstance; I like to think of it as an unplanned trip into a computer! I honestly wish I would've done more with the idea of using disappearing platforms to unlock or redirect enemies, but this level's finished now... That concept is up to you to explore further if you feel like it!

Tell me what you think of this one! Did you find both of the trinkets?

It's a level! Yep, that's pretty much all I can say about this one. A short but hopefully pleasant little trip. This was the first level I made after experimenting with some prototypes. It's pretty much my reinterpretation of Space Station 1, easy and concise. Well, disregarding that one trinket, that is...

Feel free to complain about that one!
