Hi guys!

I'm Kevin, a VVVVVV fan(of course), and I'm new to the forums!

I just read the Level Editor tutorials by Terry, and damn was I excited to try it out!

And I did! So, here it is, my first level:

SPIKELAND!

SCREENSHOTS!!

The level is lighthearted and offers easy-medium challenges.
It's my first level, so it might not be very good.

Please leave me constructive criticism, so I can improve!

SPIKELAND INCLUDES:

- A 10x10 map!
- 11 trinkets - all generously placed and easy to obtain!
- A challenge at the end!
- Difficulty : Easy - Medium

Hope you enjoy!

SUPER IMPORTANT EDIT

As you all may(or may not) know, the amazing SJMistery has created a 2.0 BUGFIX PATCH of this level!
Thank you so much, SJMistery! Didn't expect so much people to care for my level. You can get the patch in his post, which is Reply #10.

BUT!!!!

I have made modifications to the v2.0 patch myself, and now we have a v2.1 patch!(and in less than two days, wow!)

So, yeah, the download link has been updated! Hope you guys enjoy!

CHANGELOG(as of 5/1/2016)

v2.1(CURRENT)

- Made the last challenge less painful by adding a checkpoint!
- Made some tweaks to the rooms!
- Revamped some scripts and added new ones!

v2.0(SJMistery's Bugfix Patch)

- Added a new trinket!
- Fixed lots of "spike misalignments" and other bugs!
- Other tweaks here and there

v1.0

- Initial release!  :viridian:

You can upload the images to imgur or somewhere similar and then embed them here by encasing the direct URL in Insert Image tags.

I can't play it because I'm on mobile right now but I'll be sure to play it later today.

...no internal scripting?
Ok I really wanna play a level like this
I like levels like overdose, and levels without internal scripting, but not shitty.

I only got through the first 20 rooms - this level is actually really fucking hard

Things I had problems with:

single tiled walls
walls that suddenly have spikes
gravity lines with spikes directly under or over
intersecting gravity lines

yep, I'm kinda shitty at the level editor  :verdigris:
gonna find time to revise the level though!  :viridian:

Thank you for trying my level!
It really helps to hear your thoughts.
I'll try to make better levels next time!

By the way, has anyone tried to open the level in the editor?

There is an unused challenge that I decided to leave out, and a secret terminal(actually not so secret)

HINT : It was supposed to be an expanded version of Veni Vidi Vici.(sadly it only has 3 rooms finished though  :violet:)

I might expand the level, it seems a little short(for my tastes anyway). Might finish the VVV challenge  :vermillion:

Some parts of the 10x10 map are empty, so....  :viridian:

Also, has anybody reached the Secret Room yet?
There's some plot hidden in there!

Thanks for playing my level again!

I have more plans for this level, and for my next levels too!

almost everyone opens levels in the editor
they probably expected to see it later so they didnt really notice
btw please dont expand venividivici its already painful and boring enough

ALSO, go get VED.
https://tolp2.nl/ved/?p=download
its an external editor that is 100% better than the ingame one so get used to it because you are going to want to use it a lot

Okay, time to get back to the job: gonna review that thing, and looking for any possible glitch:

Misaligenement on "Wrong room!" I feel like you should put a checkpoint near the trinket to force people to return the "right" way, instead of just killing themselves and respawning outside of the challenge.

Random invisible blocks and spike misalignements on "The safest dimension"

Another spike misalignement on "Take the stairs"

Yet another misalignement on "Warping system #22", and like before, i feel like putting a checkpoint at the end to force backtracking  :vermillion:

ANOTHER ONE on "Elegant bouncesuits"

"Armonius Dance", spike misalignement.

Hidden to Break", guess what

"Storage Room", be careful with putting those warp walls!

"Unused Storage Room". Nice try, but the pits were too tempting. Also more misalignemens

Massive misalignement on "Beds to Bounce On"

"Armonius Dance", spike misalignement.

Hidden to Break", guess what

"Storage Room", be careful with putting those warp walls!

"Unused Storage Room". Nice try hiding there a trinket, but the pits were too tempting. Also more misalignements on that room.

"Leftovers". I think some of the spikes are fake... At least the ones of the fourth death cube are

Another misalignement on "Out of Nowhere" Plus i think there is a nice way to improve the room: shown on the patch. But... with a terminal telling that to the player first, otherwise it would be evil, even for me

Totally sure "Guards are here to help" is NOT supposed to work the way it does on your build. Swap the block tiles on the cubes by background tiles or the enemies will bounce on them and go crazy. That room needs at least a checkpoint nearbly, and probably one of the enemies removed.

PD While editing, i have seen yet another misalignement on "The Last Straw" and the final congrats section. Here i send an edited version with all of the above taken care of, as well as correcting the spikecheck to take account of the extra trinket. Still thinking the final challenge deserves some checkpoints, there are too many unfair deathtraps in the middle to go in all out with no checkpoints.

Holy crap.

HOLY CRAP.

I expected my level to be noticed, even just a little, but I never expected somebody to actually point out every single small bug, and even better, make a 2.0 bugfix patch of it.

You've been the best! I'll be sure to make a changelog in the original post.

It's pretty much SJMistery's job to point out bugs

however i didn't expect him to make a revision
