The event is complete! Thank you to everyone who took part! :viridian:

Over the course of the next week, I'm going to play everything and prepare a round up post. I'm not really that fussed about deadlines so don't worry if you wanna upload something late or whatever :vermillion: Looking forward to checking everything out!

I definitely think any VVVVVV related thing is fair game - the less rules the better for this :viridian:

(I've encouraged the author of this cursed mod to submit that to the jam! https://twitter.com/mustard_bucket/status/1216272971779670016 )

Yeah, it's going well! Ruari and I took a little break near the end of last year, but we're back on this and making progress.

Thing is, we don't really have a lot of exciting stuff to show right now. We've just been iterating on content, scrapping old stuff and making new stuff. The screenshots look basically the same. We probably won't start talking much about it until we get closer to the end!

when i type hi in the desktop version it quits because "it was trying to access areas of memory reserved for windows"
what
same when i type island
but
circle works
what in the world

Whoa! That is super weird D: It's probably just a graphics card error, but that's a crazy error message! Can you take a screenshot of it?

Fun glitch: try phone followed by call (and if you want more clarity, reset) followed by phone. :) Then for even more amusement, call.

:o

I should probably fix that! :o

It's a good tutorial! I'm surprised it's possible - congrats on figuring it out :viridian:

Source code needs openfl 4.5.2, lime 3.5.2 and haxe 3.3.0 to compile!

Er, yeah, please don't link directly to an .apk of the game. Even aside from piracy, just downloading random apks you find is really not a good idea in this day and age!

If people need the apk file, you can get it from humble store here: http://thelettervsixtim.es/purchase.html

If inserting the Tower tileset into the editor would break the game, how did you insert it into the main game?

It's not that it would break the game, it's that it would break backwards compatibility with the save format.

Like, if I were to make this change and support the tower tileset in a new version, then people with an older version of the game (from the humble bundle, itch.io, gog, a few other places) wouldn't be able to play the level.

Real answer: no, because unfortunately it's structured in a completely different way to the other two tilesets, and isn't supported by the .vvvvvv level format. It'd break compatibility with existing levels if I was to update the game to add support for it!

To be honest, there's a lot of stuff in the .vvvvvv level format that I wish I'd done differently, but seven years after the game's release seems like it's too late. Oh well! :viridian:
