This was a link on an old topic to a blogspot of a girl who makes dolls of characters from popular games and TV shows. I found this Viridian doll (which is awesome), but read the text next to it:

... That just completely changes the entire spectrum of VVVVVV (no, I'm not sexist). But hey, that means that there aren't 4 boys and 2 girls on the DDS Souleye anymore!

It's pretty surprising. But, it makes the game a LOT more interesting than it was.
This isn't true, actually.
Notice how Viridian is posed as "male" in the game itself. (Well, the user levels.)
Pairing time:
:violet: goes with :verdigris:
:victoria: goes with :viridian:
:vermillion: and :vitellary: just stay single.

Actually, Terry said that he PURPOSELY didn't tell us Viridian's gender. It was never hinted in the game. I think there was a whole topic on this subject.
Well, the user levels pose him as male.
Also, do they actually wear clothes? PPPPPPowerup shows them as spacesuit-wearing people, while there are many who believe they're actually running around naked. (That would mean spikes hurt EVEN MORE.)
That's why VVVVVV is so great - you can speculate ANYTHING about it. You don't know anything about the characters ACTUAL looks - they might not even be human.
That's what I theorize.
They came from another dimension, where they don't wear clothes. Also, everyone there can invert their own gravity at will.
After the events of the game, they probably colonized a newly-stabled Dimension VVVVVV, which never would collapse in the first place. Their ship was also upgraded to have actual amenities (like a Cooking Terminal and beds)
I don't think Viridian is necessarily a boy or necessarily a girl.
You can decide for yourselves, and that's what the blog poster apparently did, seeing as she is female.
There is no standardized gender for Viridian, so every player, male or female, can assume his or her role.
But Terry HIMSELF said that Viridian is a girl. Did you see the picture?
Whoops. Guess he did.
Well, might have been a slip, but even if Viridian is a girl, I don't really care. :)
Why would that change the entire spectrum of VVVVVV, though?
Well, first, it makes the DDS Souleye crew even - 3 girls and 3 boys.
Second, it makes the game better because most heroes are not girls. Terry has broken the fourth wall by making Viridian a girl. (Not really, but to me it seems like it...)
I doubt he said that.
He's just trolling us.
*cough*PYRO*cough*
I found this in a REALLY OLD POST, so I doubt he's trolling...
Viridian is Viridian.

Viridian is Viridian.
... Even I can't beat that.
But Terry, IS Viridian a girl? Because, according to this complete legal internet picture document, you said, "SHE is optimistic" and stuff.
So, what he said is true: VIRIDIAN IS VIRIDIAN.
Wait... if Viridian = Viridian...
...nah, not possible.
I still believe he's male, though. He and Victoria seem to be a pairing that will work.

NO. YOU ARE WRONG.
I myself assumed Viridian was male, but then I read somewhere that Viridian's gender was deliberately left unspecified. For that reason, I was very careful to avoid revealing Viridian's gender in my user levels. That's why the descriptions say refer to Viridian as "you." It was awkward, but it was better than repeatedly saying Viridian. In fact, that's the whole joke behind the terminal in Quantum Tunnel that asks for Viridian's gender. Viridian responds with a joke, and the terminal is annoyed, but in the end it doesn't come out. The idea was to skirt dangerously close to revealing it, then veer away at the last second.

It's interesting that people don't pick up on this more, actually - the idea is that the complimentary colours are a little "closer" to each other, which is very obvious in the case of :verdigris: and :violet:, a little less obvious in the case of :viridian: and :vermillion:, but perhaps it's entirely too subtle in the case of :vitellary: and :victoria:. :vitellary: and :victoria: actually have a great deal of mutual respect and admiration for each other.
Complimentary colors? You mean that colors that look good together? If that was the case, then wouldn't it be :vermillion: and :victoria:?
In Kindergarten, they teach the RYB color model because it corresponds well with the colors people use colloquially in our culture. But they aren't true primaries because they can't produce certain shades--for instance, cyan and magenta. The RYB color system produces a more limited color space.
VVVVVV uses this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_model
I'm no expert on color theory, but I am of the understanding that the RGB color model more closely approximates the way the human eye works. It's not perfect, though, because there's a psychological and cultural component to it. For instance, most everything between cyan and blue is generally called "blue", and there's special words for light red (pink) and dark orange (brown).

Also, :verdigris: and :violet: are in a relationship. They also suffer amusing injuries.

That's from before VVVVVV's release, and in the game itself, Viridian's gender is left unspecified. Terry probably changed his mind in the meantime.

I always assumed that a very complicated process went into the ability to flip, and that the process was made to be so quick, you could flip as a soon as you land, but it was also made so slow that you couldn't flip again while in the air.
In short, they use a velocity paradox to create a single flip, and to prevent mid-air flipping.
I'm still going with mine for the sake of simplicity.
That's why Verdigris's spine being broken would lead to intense pain: he bruised one of his internal organs as well.
