Editing VVVVVV's Sprites?

Is there any way to edit VVVVVV's sprites? I attempted to edit them in paint, but it says my access was denied. I was going to turn the squares into fish.

It wouldn't show up as fish in anyone else's game anyway.

Didn't Terry say somewhere that editable graphics were at least tentatively planned? Or did I imagine that? (Not being sarcastic, I really can't remember if I read it, or just wished it really really hard  )

You should be able to edit the game's graphic's files with any paint program. Try using something else, maybe MS Paint doesn't support PNGs too well?

PNGs are all I use with Paint (or any other program, for that matter).

Gimp worked! I love it! Now, this is technically what my games will look like. (see Attachments)
