Hey all, I saw that recently was the 10th anniversary of VVVVVV, which brought a smile to my face.  Almost 10 years ago I used to be very active on this forum, playing all the levels and taking it upon myself to rate them, though I don't remember if anyone actually liked that or not.  Anyway, I had an unfinished level of my own, and I realized at some point that the story concept (a rescue mission involving a lot of scripting) was becoming burdensome and I was never going to finish it.  I used to think it would be silly to release something unfinished, but now after almost a decade, I think I would like people to see what I was working on, if anyone cares to play through a project which has some fun room designs and balanced challenges, but which gets cut off midway through.

Here are some screenshots.  I made a point to use text as art in almost every room of the game, something which at the time of making it, wasn't being done much.  I'm sure that's changed but I hope you can appreciate the effort I put into making a lot of these rooms look nice at a younger age.  I also threw in a lot of random (often obscure) references into the room names.

As I've said, the level is unfinished; you'll know once you reach Violet's house that there is nothing afterward.  But I hope that if you play, you enjoy what's there, especially the artsy side of it.  ;)

So I've been off the drug called VVVVVV since the end of last summer when I went back to school, but I've been looking to hook myself on it again for a while.  Were there any big updates I missed?  I couldn't find anything, so I assume not, but perhaps there were small patches or something.  I'm mainly concerned about if anything was added to the level editor.

All input appreciated!

VVVVVV / Found a bug?
July 29, 2011, 10:53:18 PM
I was playing the custom level "B0unc3" (see levels forum) when I encountered an interesting problem.  I collected a crewmate (yellow) and activated a text box at the same time, which made my game go wonky.  Basically the visuals froze; I could hear myself moving around but couldn't see any changes in the screen.  When I quit to the menu the problem stayed with me, and I had to restart VVVVVV to be able to see what I was doing again.

Has anything like this happened before?

VVVVVV / VVVVVV on my new computer (save game?)

Hey people.

I registered so I could ask about this.  I've owned VVVVVV for a while, I bought it in the summertime I believe.  Anyway, I just got a new computer, an Acer laptop with Windows 7.  My old computer was a Compaq 515 notebook with Windows XP.   I moved all my games over from the Compaq to the Acer, including VVVVVV.

My question is: how do I get my saved game back?  I was surprised that there wasn't a stickied topic about recovering save games; I figured it would be a popular topic.  I was really proud of my V rank time trial on The Tower and my 17 seconds in the super graviton and I hope I don't have to do everything over again (already did it once).

Hope this isn't too hard to do!

EDIT: why in the world is captcha needed to post something? O.o
