I think that most users who are currently a mod have a more personal relationship with Terry.
And the forum is inactive enough to make some people think it is dying!
And the forum is inactive enough to make some people think it is dying!
Why is that related to the fact that this forum needs mods? The mods are inactive, but some members are active.
And all the people who think that this forum is dying are probably used to more active forums. I personally think that 20 posts/day, the current "posting rate" in this forum, is active, and I'm not comparing this forum to other forums, so this my fair opinion. I have, so far registered in this forum, anyway...
Slightly more related, why do spambots, apparently like inactive forums!? Check the forum stats and compare the # of posts in each month with the number of registrations in the same month to see what I mean.
i think that mods should have at least 1000 posts.

Don't encourage others to post useless messages to get to 1000 posts! :victoria:
Also, I just calculated that with my current rate, I will get to 1000 posts in about 100 days.

If this forum had more... "interesting" threads, I could get much more.

And what do you call interesting then? Can't you just create a thread if you think it's interesting?

If I post a smiley, it doesn't mean you should discuss it. (http://www.wegenforum.nl/images/smilies/icon_facepalm.gif)
I guess you're really attatched to this forum XDi think that mods should have at least 1000 posts.

Guys, a high postcount is really not a good argument for why you should be a mod! :verdigris:
We're fine for mods right now, anyway. If spam ever becomes a bigger problem I'll look into something else.

Hacker3443 has more posts per day than I have! I have 5.917 posts per day, Hacker has 7.500 posts per day! And the day after he signed up, he had 20 posts per day! :o Still, he won't get 1000 posts earlier than me.
Did nobody else notice those two bots which are online 24 hours a day? ??? They are called 'Jocuri' and 'cartonito', and they link to other sites. I don't want to encourage others to go to one of those sites, but I think those accounts should be banned.
I have checked their profiles and didn't see any address. Jocuri's personal text, as well as the fact that he was online almost every time I went here made me think that it was a spambot, though. cartonito had an avatar! I think that this is one of the things spambots do to make others believe they're normal members...
I just found one: 'Plusades'.I already did. :)
I'm reporting both of his posts.

Isn't there an option to delete all users with 0 posts who haven't been active after the day they signed up?
They need to improve the CAPTCHA feature.
They need to improve the CAPTCHA feature.
Or maybe they're not spambots, but spamhumans!
I'm almost sure that everyone that has a username starting with "sania" is a spambot because one of them posted a spam post and after it was erased, I saw lots of those users in the "last member" area, only changing the number (and apparently some letters).
We have too many spambots on this forum. :'( :-X
Another way to prevent bots without posts but with spam links is to not allow users with 0 posts to edit their profile! I'm not saying that they should get posts, but at least it would be easier to avoid having bots on the forum! If they don't post anything, they can't add a spam link to their profile, and if they do post something, it's most likely to be spam so they can be detected easily and deleted right away! :)
I seem to be able to recognize spambots BY NAME! I mean, sometimes I look at the latest member and I think: Wait a minute, this is likely to be spam. And yes: last active 10 minutes after registering, and a spam link. Also, spambots tend to specify their gender as 'Female', and a lot of them say they are from African countries.

VICTORY FOR ZIM
I can't find it? ???
We are safe until there are too many.
We are safe until there are too many.
Now that we are safe from the spam, let me just say this.
Roleplaying can make nearly anything fun.

And you think it is their real location? :viridian: I think it's just a random location to make them sound like they're not a spambot.Another spambot: http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=21634 (http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=21634)

Um, banning spambots? I wouldn't just ban a spambot, I would delete them from the site altogether! Banning them means they're only blocked from accessing their account, which is useless if you want to get rid of them.
not another one
