Title: Cage Trouble - a level of trials and trinket challenges
Post by: shape worrior t on August 09, 2014, 12:38:22 am
Object-Overruled!:vermillion:(http://vvvccc.comxa.com/img/victoria_evil.png)What???!??:victoria:(http://vvvccc.comxa.com/img/viridian_sad.png)

So, this is one of my recent levels, after I learned scripting but before I started using flags or internal scripts. Captain Viridian and friends are captured by an evil clone of Viridian. Viridian escapes, only to be put on trial and declared "GUILTY". Viridian then has to go through another trial and then a few challenges based on trinket rooms in the real game. Will Viridian succeed in rescuing the other crewmembers?
And if you want to play only the trinket challenge part, I made a level that's a remake of said part. It gives the rooms names, makes them much better, and should be tried.
What a bad court. At least it's not official...

If you want something like (http://vvvccc.comxa.com/img/verdigris_annoyed_right.png), use (http://vvvccc.comxa.com/img/(crewmate)_(expression)_(right if you want them facing right)) :viridian:
Quote that if you can't see.

Now I have internal scripting in it ;D! It should be the third attachment. :viridian:

And now I have an even newer version that lets Viridian escape the first cage if you activated the trinketcheck1 script that lets you escape ;D.

Any comments?

Huh. Here is my Verdic--Er, I mean, rating. Heh, heh.
Love the PW games. Especially Trials and Tribulations.

-== I haz Feedback! ==-

Level Originality: 9/10  Done quite well, actually. Pretty Original.
Level Design: 7/10 I like it, but SINGLE TILED WALLS WITHOUT DIRECT MODE ARE-----We interrupt this moment for a public broadcasting: "Press F10 to use Direct Mode." Thank you for your time.
Roomnames: 5/10 I'll be rating the rooms in Trinket Challenge. They were mostly parodies of existing rooms in the main game, but some weren't. The parodies were actually pretty funny.
Story: 4/10 Has story, but I didn't really understand it very well. Also you couldn't tell who was talking.  :viridian: or  :viridian:'s Clone. The Textboxes were only over  :viridian:'s head? Or maybe  :viridian:'s Clone's head. I don't Know. But the story wasn't bad...
"Fun Factor": 6/10 Not too fun in my opinion, because I didn't really follow the story.

Okay!
I think I'll update this level for direct mode and try to find a way to make the textboxes appear where they should be. I didn't like that either.
*A while later*
Well, I wasn't able to make the confusion stop, I did use direct mode. And I edited some errors out of scripts.
Maybe I could use reply() instead of say(player)?
*More time later*
Alright! You can try this version.

Level Originality: 9/10  Done quite well, actually. Pretty Original.
Level Design: 10/10 I love it! the single tiled wall are fixed, leaving you with a 10/10!
Roomnames: 5/10 I'll be rating the rooms in Trinket Challenge. They were mostly parodies of existing rooms in the main game, but some weren't. The parodies were actually pretty funny.
Story: 6/10 Has story, but I didn't really understand it very well. The mispositioned textboxes are cleared, so I'll up this to a 6/10.
"Fun Factor": 8/10This level is a lot more fun since the bugs are fixed! I still didn't really follow the story, keeping it at a 8/10.

Well, they aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. Even now there are 24 pages of users, most of which are now-banned spambots...

Um... :o

ON TOPIC???:
I'm not too experienced with internal scripting, but I can do some internal scripting.
I am only familiar with the say(-1) method.

ACUALLY ON TOPIC THIS TIME:
I wanted Viridian to automatically walk and collect all trinkets, but I wasn't able to get  :viridian: very far without being unable to close the You got a trinket! message :(.

What my script was going to be:
say(-1)
text(1,0,0,4)
say(2)
walk(right,100)
text(1,0,0,4)
say(4)
endtext
endcutscene()
untilbars()
loadscript(stop)

What my script was:
say(-1)
text(1,0,0,4)
say(2)
walk(right,10)
text(1,0,0,4)
say(4)
endtext
endcutscene()
untilbars()
loadscript(stop)

say-1
text(1,0,0,4)
say(2)
vvvvvvman()
text(1,0,0,4)
say(4)
endtext
endcutscene()
untilbars()
loadscript(stop)
^my knowledge of internal scripting.

Now I updated the title page with this! For those who don't want to see a later post just to download a new version.

I can do vvvvvvman, gravitron(gamestate10) and walk
And some more, but I usually use these.

Still awesome :)!
A while later:
Here's a new version that prevents the game from being unwinnable:
Any comments?
