Title: Save files
Post by: Shasharala on January 13, 2010, 09:36:56 AM
I'm curious as to whether there's a way to access the flash cache and backup my game saves.  Maybe I'm overprotective but I sure don't want to lose what I've worked so hard for.

Would I be able to transfer these backup files between my Mac and PC so that I don't have to do everything twice?

Yep, that should be possible - you just need to locate your flash cache on the mac (not sure where it is)

I have found it. It is here if anyone else has a mac and would like to know

/Users/(username)/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects/(random string)

/<what> ???  In the (random string) folder I've got folders for literally every site I've ever visited, as well as all the adverts that have ever been displayed to me!  I just can't find one that says VVVVVV  :victoria:

I was looking around for it, but I found it, finally! Under Windows 7 Pro, it's here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\<random string of letters and numbers>\localhost\Program Files\VVVVVV\VVVVVV.exe

With the <username> and <random string of letters and numbers> being unique to your installation. To clarify, "VVVVVV.exe" is a folder which holds a bunch of ".sol" files, which I assume are the vital files.

It's in the localhost folder, followed by an identical path to where VVVVVV.app is installed so by default:
/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects/<randomstring>/localhost/Applications/VVVVVV.app/

Back up that VVVVVV.app folder and you should be safe. (FYI: the .app extension is hidden by default)
