As crazyal02 said, you'd be best off posting here, because let's face it, this place is dead.

Okay then. Will do.

Anyways: It's pretty cool, but it's not going to be really useful until it's possible to save scripts back into a .vvvvvv file.

I've just finished writing the importer script :viridian:. I've also moved everything to github.

If you would like to check out the entire toolkit (only consisting of the script importer and exporter), you may download it here: https://github.com/kylemsguy/vvvvvv-scripting-toolkit

I'll be building binaries for windows users soon. Done. You can get it either in the OP or below:

VVVVVV Levels / VVVVVV External Scripting Toolkit
June 16, 2013, 06:35:17 AM
EDIT: I will no longer be updating this thread. Please see http://tolp.net16.net/forum/index.php?topic=166.0, or check out the github repo (see below) for further updates

I hope that I'm posting this in the right place... though I don't see where else I could post this because the rest of the forums have been archived...  :victoria:

After taking a look at Dav999's VVVVVV script dumping tool (see http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1269.msg12887) and trying my own hand at scripting in a level, I've decided to create a cross-platform toolkit that would allow anyone to use an external text editor to edit VVVVVV scripts, instead of using the (awful) internal script editor. As of right now, I've only completed the tool that can extract the scripts from a .vvvvvv level file (EDIT: both exporter and importer are complete!). The next thing I'm going to make is a tool that can re-encode the scripts and put it back into the level file. Done.

I've written this tool in Python, which means that it will run on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. For Windows, I've used py2exe to create an .exe file so that you don't have to install a Python interpreter to run the program. Otherwise, the .py source file should run out-of-the-box on both Linux and OSX.

If you find any bugs please let me know.

DISCLAMER: Even though I've taken precautions against destroying data, I am not responsible if this program causes your level or other data to be destroyed. Please backup your data.

Requirements
Windows, Mac OS X, Linux
VVVVVV v2.0+ (to edit/test the level)

This is not needed for the use of the Windows binary
Python 2.7 (older versions may or may not work; Python 3 will definitely not work unless you put the .py files through 2to3)

Downloads:
Windows (exe):
https://mega.co.nz/#!cYczFYIZ!enEKbg2b9iG-eVoH75RNLUP6dIAmHcTyxeLZzKZy2po

All others (Incl. Windows, Mac OS X, Linux):
https://mega.co.nz/#!cQVnCZpL!JMLAznJnBqXbtReTgec1y0HQc9hioVNUzip6VrXzU3A

Otherwise, if you wish to get the latest code (this means the entire toolset, which has two complete tools: the script importer and the script extractor), you may download the latest version from my git repo:
https://github.com/kylemsguy/vvvvvv-scripting-toolkit

Also, there are no viruses in this program. All the source code is available on github. If you don't trust my coding, feel free to take a look at the code. Furthermore, the cross-platform (i.e. the non-windows-specific version) IS the source code file.

Anyhow, thanks for taking a look at my tool  :viridian:

VVVVVV / VVVVVV MultiSave
August 25, 2012, 07:46:56 PM
I found SSSSSS on this forum (http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1066) yesterday, and I thought it was pretty cool. However, I did not like how it chose to save to C:\SSSSSS (archaic practice) and that it was windows-only, so I set out to create a cross-platform version that saves to a more convenient folder (maybe one within the VVVVVV save folder itself?). This is the result of about a days' work:

http://code.google.com/p/vvvvvv-save-switcher/downloads/detail?name=VVVVVMultiSave%20v0.1.zip

There's no GUI (yet), but I think that the text interface should be pretty intuitive. I have only tested it on windows so far, though it should work on linux/mac. If you guys encounter any problems please let me know.

Did you use http://mumble.knobgoblin.org.uk/vvvvvv.cgi ? Apparently you need to use the shell script provided in the original tar package for the game to not segfault.

EDIT: rebuilt RPM from that page with a tar rebuilt with the patched files. Now works fine  :viridian:

VVVVVV / Re: Arm v7 Cross-Compile Request

All Android phones use ARM architecture (99% sure of this), although I think some of them are v6 and some are v7, and to be honest I'm not sure what the difference is in terms of compatibility.  In any event, your phone is v7, so whatever works on mine would work on yours as well as the majority of Android phones as far as I know.

ARMv6 is more portable, while ARMv7 is faster. Take your pick. I would like an iOS version though  :victoria:

VVVVVV / Re: My Flash/Android/iOS port of VVVVVV

I made a flash port of VVVVVV (no official level, can only play player levels), and exported to android using the Adobe AIR adt tool.

The online version can be played at http://sangtian.me/vvvv.

I also wrote a blog about how to remake it.
http://sangtian.me/blog/?p=7

If your want to test the android version, try to download the apk from:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28239335/VVVVVV-Levels.apk

An iOS version is also packed, but I think a jailbreaked device is need to play,
since I don't have the Apple's $99/yr developer's certificate :victoria:

Hope you like it!

Where is the iOS version? I have some experience with making .deb packages and signing the executables so that they'll run on iOS. If you were to post the packaged version for iOS i could try to make it work (and perhaps make a repo for it if you wish).

Also, I have a few complaints with the PC version of your port: spikes go through platforms, as well as you can't run across a row of platforms with gaps between them, making a section of the Pyramid of Doom impossible to complete (to be specific, the part where there are floating spikes and you have to run across to the other side and back on the bottom of the platforms). Otherwise, great work :D
