VVVVVV / Re: Polar dimension
« on: December 31, 2012, 12:04:37 am »
I haven't understanded NOTHING.

I tried to check the Y-coord. and the X-coord. via a custom level.
First, I've resized the level to 3x3 (9), because 5x5 = 25 and I will not make 25 things in one day.
Now, I inserted roomtext on 1x1 and I've writed
1,1
On room 1,2:
1,2
And so on. On map 1,3 i will put 1,3 - and on 2,1 I will put 2,1. Moar things and that story.

I cannot check the Y-coords. because... Well... I don't know!!!
Who will solve The Mystery of Outer Space? ;)

Off-topic: The Outer Space is an airless area where you can stand 0.000000(and about 900 "0")00001 seconds before exploding because lack of air.
And worm holes are scattered on this area. Some guys say that the entire area is a 2D AREA that, really, is "∞"x"∞" rooms.
Total worm holes: ∞∞

Sorry if I cannot answer everything, this isn't my computer.

Oh that...
Well, I could check if the Y-coord. changes on Outer space (but my brain will make myself search the X-coord.)...
But how I can see on what XY I'm now if I cannot see the coords. number?

How I can see what are the room coordinates?
I say, I want a coin over a spike/wall. Not at 0,0 (Room's left-up corner).

Somebody should leave the game running with an accelerator (or something like that, so the game runs faster than normal :P) and keep waiting until it overflows, and look what happens. Also, is there some way to get variables from the game while it's running? (to get the coordinates of the current room so you can see if it really doesn't warp)

Ha! Accelerator. CE have implemented something cool: Speedhack. :P

And what do you mean with overflow?

I can get variables while it's running with values. Values are practically variables. I can search variables if I search values.

I've tried to get the room coordinates to "warp" to another room, but that is impossible. I can get the coordinates of the current room (if I haven't erased the finded thing), but to modify it, nope.
Wait, you mean that? Or what do you mean with "to get the coordinates of the current room so you can see if it really doesn't warp"?

That's strange, my own investigations of the internals show the opposite -- that Outer Space doesn't wrap at all.

Dav999: Outer Space is simply a default room to show if nothing else exists for that exact map room coordinates. This way, it's fully possible to have "infinite" Outer Space rooms -- at least, until X and Y wrap (which they do after 4294967295, i.e. it's a 32-bit int, like most (everything?) else number related in VVVVVV)

Interesting.
I thinked that "the rooms start to wrap after 'x+x-((x*x)/x)' rooms".

Note: X + X - ((X * X) / X) = X

Em, the Outer Space area wraps, like (i think) after 3, 4 to... I have to explore.

To be more exact with what I said earlier:

108,109: Teleporter Divot
110,104: Seeing Red
111,104: Building Apport

And nope, the Outer Space rooms doesn't warp, as I and Rapidgame said earlier :p

So what does it do instead of warping? I can't imagine an infinite amount of outer space rooms.

Well well, little Dav999...  :D
Now.
I don't know how to say this, but Outer Space DOES wrap.
The second time I glitched, I have falled upside like 4, 9 or whatever rooms.
Then I tried to go down. But the game doesn't let me go down. That room wraps.
There are some rooms that wraps, and some that doesn't do it.

Note: FIQ, when I read what you have writed, you made me thing:

Well, glitch!
Outer Space doesn't wrap, I don't know why.
I have glitched to Outer Space, the background says that wraps to both directions, but that isn't true.

The rooms from The Tower are also accessible in the polar dimension (except for The Tower itself). The other parts of Dimension VVVVVV aren't available in the polar dimension.
Well, I was working on another thing.
I have to explore more.

blue626:
I fell to Outers space, and, while the vertical wrap (Yes, it isn't both vertical and horizontal, the area is a lie) moved me to the "floor" again, I held right.
So: I fell 0 rooms before reaching VVVVVV.  :D

So, the Outer Space rooms warp vertically and not horizontally? Strange... and interesting...
I will tell you another interesting thing.
I have did again the glitch.
The Outer Space (i think that) doesn't even wrap. Well, maybe when used the TV on DIV Y Repair, but else looks like the Outer Space hides something.
The area doesn't wrap.
Look my new attachement link on the first reply.

Edit:
Let me see if I understood what happened after you fell in that 1-tile wide hole:
You fell to Outer Space, held right and after falling for x rooms you force-flipped.
Did you fell x rooms down before reaching VVVVVV? Or was it one room below? Did you hold left at that time?

Interesting... So, the polar Dimension has that tile set until you deactivate the generator (in DIY Repair V)...
I wonder why the Outer Space rooms have that background when they don't wrap all around...

Note: I think that the map in the wiki is wrong and "House of Mirrors" is above "W", otherwise this glitch wouldn't happen.

It have that tileset, that's true.
I don't know.
Via my glitch, above "W" there is "Outer Space" (Practically nothing). :viridian:
Note: I have to say "adove" or "above"?

VVVVVV Levels / Re: The mini journey (beta)
« on: December 22, 2012, 10:01:05 pm »
The beginning took me some trials and I don't like how you get killed accidentally at the first room when coming back without any clues.
You should have reduced the amount of flashes after first activation of terminal in The Trap. It can be annoying to go back and forth like that..
I have a feel that you want to put few checkpoints in the level. Sometimes checkpoint placement feels weird.
Don't put a checkpoint on an inversion plane and get the player killed accidentally! It sucks.
The trinkets are too easy. Most of them are easier than the rooms themselves.
But all in all, it's not bad for a beta level.

That's true, I have to change some things there.

Okay, now I'm here.

FIQ:
First, I've used Cheat Engine to find the gravity value, to make Viridian force the flips. (Looks like there are walls in the air with this method ;D)
Second, If I have messed my saves, I will continue adding gibberish to them. And, while playing the intermissions, the game wouldn't let you save the game.
Third... I can search the value for the invencible mode   ;D
Fourth, I will actívate the No Death trophy by practicing (legally).

Yes, including the final level has got the beautiful polar tile set.
(The Outer space area "says" that it wraps from both directions. THAT'S A LIE.)
