VVVVVV Levels / Level Is Dead (A Level)
November 01, 2017, 04:40:52 AM
I don't know why we called it that.

Hi people so me and a couple friends of mine worked on a VVVVVV level a couple years ago sporadically, and it's abundantly obvious now that we're never gonna finish it. So why not share what we did on the VVVVVV forums? ;) I added a quick end and checked that everything worked fine. I think it does but tell me if there's a glaring issue I missed.

It's supposed to be in Aperture Laboratories and GLaDOS talks to you but it's really just random for the most part.
And yes I know some of the presentation isn't the cleanest but I don't care enough to fix it.

Anyway, take a look if you want and comment if you will. Don't take it too seriously, it's just a thing we did.

Okay so I was playing VVVVVV again the other day and decided to go for a V rank on the final level. I practiced on my 3DS for awhile then raged and stopped. Picked it up a little later on PC and it felt significantly easier for some reason. Eventually I got V rank and decided I would go back and get it on my 3DS too. But then when I was playing the time trial on my 3DS, Viridian felt noticeably more slippery compared to PC and it was harder as a consequence. Has anyone else noticed anything like this? Or am I just imagining things?

Just finished this! (Or as finished as it can be)
This is a pretty good level...
But why would you intentionally make it crash? ???
And also, you can get trapped in space station 2. :( You should probably make a barrier in "Outer Hull" and a message asking you to buy space station 2.
If you go back to the tower, Vermilion is still there, and you can rescue him twice...
Why are Welcome Aboard and Conundrum different?
I thought the messages were funny but more in the lab and over world would be nice.
It's pretty good but it seems somewhat empty and needs more content.

VVVVVV keeps crashing when I try to leave "Now Stay Close To Me..." in the intermission... :victoria:

Me lik surprize ending! :viridian:
Bst lvl evr! :viridian:
10/10 :-*

But seriously...
I had fun playing this level!
I liked all the purposeful gliches!
I was able to get all trinkets and all crew except 2 in pit- :vitellary: and  :victoria: near poisonous spike and the last guy- :viridian:
The constant crashing was great and I loved the horrible level design!
The surprise ending was a great and hilarious. :D
Finally a GOOD use for destroy(platforms). ;D
Even the SCRIPTS had terrible names! :P
Not to mention some of the script commands like poop and say(999).
Best (and only that I have seen) purposefully horrible level yet! :)

I tried it, and it is terribly difficult, I love it, just that there are things to be resolved:

1) In the yellow room of the ship you can not pass practically through enemies, because there is not enough space to pass Viridian!

2) They serve checkpoint in the ship!

3) I repeat that it is too difficult!  :victoria:

Last thing, TmanDaCool, how do you say it's too easy?  :-X

I can also vote:

Graphics: 9/10 We say that we agree on this

Story: 8/10 Come on, do not cry, do it!

Gameplay: 6/10 If it were not for SUPREME difficulty, I would have voted 10!

Difficulty: 4/10 Would you like a joke, right?

Total: 27/40 Aka: B

If you do a fix on all of these things, maybe I will change the vote!
What do you mean by "Come on, do not cry, do it" ???
The yellow room, you have to stop between the enemies on the right but can run past both on the left.
I added an easy mode with more checkpoints! :)

VVVVVV Levels / D.S.S. Souleye (a level)

One of Viridian's shorter adventures.
So I decided to make new, short level centered around the ship! :)
Viridian is flying along and suddenly the ship is forcibly stopped! Everyone else is flung out of the ship! What is the cause of this?
No screenshots! This is a short level! Play to see what happens! :viridian:
UPDATE:(small)
Added easy and hard version.
Added a thing to the jukebox.

So whats up with these different versions- 2.0, 2.1, & 2.2?
I'm using 2.2 and wish I could utilize more say() lines but there are compatibility issues?
Why don't people update? Is there a reason people don't so I have to keep it at say(5) to keep compatibility?
I'm just confused.
And the other thing- I'm trying to extract files from data.zip in the vvvvvv folder but 7zip keeps saying "unsupported compression method" ???

EDIT: I was able to extract the files!

Good level! It was fun to play and not too hard. Although I couldn't find that last trinket...
Why does Victoria cry so much? She isn't a crybaby... :(
Also, In the place with the bonus trinket challenges, why are 4 just empty?
And one other thing...I was able to completely skip the warp zone... :D

VVVVVV Help / Can you delete scripts?

I'm tired of typing something wrong and having to just use that script name anyway.
Can I delete or rename them or something?

i have noticed many misalignements between the rooms, you should revise them.

the level is cool, tough  "many challenges"  room in the warp zone are impossibily hard. maybe a checkpoint on the last gap before having to run chased by the enemy would be good. "round and round" is even possible? the above edge could be a bit lower...
I fixed the misalignments.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
As for "round and round" you have to flip up the go back to the right, get a running start then flip. But don't go to far! Do it again and that should do it.
Although it isn't easy it is possible. I have tested the whole level. And you seem to have been able to beat "many challenges" since it is before "round and round."
It wasn't meant to be easy.

Welcome to the forum!

OK, but need improvement.
Reasons:

1A. Please don't use single-tiled walls. Ever. If you don't know what a single-tiled wall is, download the file below.
1B. Single tiled walls CAN be used (with direct mode,) but it should look nice.
2. Floating checkpoints? Really? Please put wall underneath.
3. Verdigris CAN flip. The room "Green Dudes Can't Flip" is a reference to "White Men Can't Jump", as seen here: PROOF! Also, How would he get to his room in the ship if he was unable to flip?  :-X
4. There were some internal scripting errors. (Ask me for tips if you want)

Everything else is great.
Well if I were to get rid of the floating checkpoints and no-flipping  :verdigris: that would kinda ruin the whole point of
2 of the sub-levels.  :( I can work on the internal scripting and single tiled walls, however.
Honestly, the floating checkpoints are okay. (if you put a backgronud tile ((2)) under it)
And for the Verdigris thing, you can him say "I can't flip!" Viridian: Huh? "Why not?" Verdigris: "I'm on these fly-trap-thingies!"
That's true, and I don't have to change anything! Alright, that's exactly what I did. Although I didn't change the single tiled walls on the over-world because it was supposed to look weird and destroyed, or the paradise place, because the arrows were supposed to be put over the floor. I think that does it as far as modifications, is there anything else I should do or any other bugs I missed? Oh and one other thing... thanks a lot for the help,  :) this is my first level and I'm not the best at scripting and such. :P

VVVVVV Levels / Dimension 88888888
October 09, 2014, 11:40:10 PM
So guys! This is my level! Dimension 88888888!
This is a 15x15 level with all the rooms filled!
It uses internal scripting, just so you know, and quite a bit. (But not as much as some other levels I have seen)
Viridian is flying along in his ship as usual, but something happens and he and his crew are forced to leave the ship! There is a problem with the teleporter and they are all teleported to different places! What challenges lie ahead for Viridian in dimension 88888888?
FEATURES:

  • Round teleporters!
  • An open world with 5 sub-levels that can be done in any order.
  • Part where you play as  :verdigris:
  • A no-flip section.
  • Uses all music in the game
  • A villain!
  • Other new characters as well.
SCREENSHOTS:

UPDATES(5):
1. I have updated the level and fixed the internal scripting bugs that I could find,
if there are some I missed, please notify me of them.
2. Now I have  fixed the floating checkpoints to look better and the single tiled walls.
3. Added a checkpoint at the beginning of the level so you don't have to re-watch the beginning cut-scene over and over when you die. And I fixed a few
weird things in the first sub-level. And I fixed the single tiles with the lab tile set.
4. Fixed misalignment issues. Modified over world slightly. Changed secret lab a bit.
5. Fixed another scripting error, changed a trinket placement.
-Thanks for playing my level and notify me if there are any bugs! :)
