Hello. Over the past month and a half or so I've been working on a very large custom level that is planned to be 14 stages long. It is currently almost halfway done, and as a nice little break from it, I decided to make this 4x4 mini level. This is a tough 16 screen long deathless challenge set to a Caretaker song, and I personally really like it. I have beaten this myself and it is pretty difficult but I think it's both fun and a fair challenge (my completion can be found here: https://youtu.be/r1CRadirdTs).
I believe that's about it, good luck and have fun!

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Supernova: the Ultimate Challenge
December 20, 2022, 10:27:22 PM
WARNING: This post will probably have spoilers for this custom, so if there is anybody planning to play through this custom blind, I would not recommend reading this.

Clear in 23:58:56 with 10141 deaths and two out of three trinkets collected, those being the Key of Wisdom and the Key of Power. I tried my absolute best to make sure I saved before quitting every time, so my time and deaths here should be infinitely more accurate than they were in my Nova completion. Could be wrong, but I believe I am the third victor of this custom. I would also like to note that I did practice screens using the editor for many screens from Zone 5 onwards, so this is not an entirely legit completion, but that doesn't change how proud I am of myself for beating this. I just beat the hardest custom level to ever be created in my childhood game and I could not be happier. It was a long and arduous journey, but the $15 Applebee's gift card made it all worth it in the end.

Just gonna post the link to my final stats here because it won't let me show the image here for some reason: https://imgur.com/6F8lH8c

And here is the link to my completion of the final checkpoint as well as the ending: https://youtu.be/eZxX07e1FDg

Just gonna go ahead and say this is easily my favorite custom of all time and probably forever will be. Playing through this custom has without a doubt been one of the absolute best experiences I have ever had in gaming. My personal favorite part of this custom was easily all of the Final Zone. Really interesting and creative ideas such as the "Pong" checkpoint and the Penultimate checkpoint. I also really enjoyed the Battle Kid music, kinda makes me want to try that game again some time lol. Speaking of music, this custom easily has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Some of my personal favorites include the Zone 5 music, both Key of Wisdom and Key of Power music, the final checkpoint music, and of course the Final Zone music.

This custom also has extremely impressive custom graphics, I especially liked the animated tiles in Zone 1 and the final checkpoint. This custom genuinely feels like it could be its own game entirely. Creativity and good ideas are pretty much everywhere in this custom. There were definitely some checkpoints I enjoyed a bit more than others, but I cannot recall a single checkpoint that I genuinely disliked.

Honestly I can't really think of much more to say, so I'm just gonna end this off by giving a huge thank you to Not Sure for making this piece of art. I know I already said this, but this has actually been one of the greatest experiences I've ever had playing a video game. I'm already sort of sad that this is over, but at the same time I'm extremely happy and satisfied I beat this. Once again, thank you so much for this, this was an amazing journey.

It's okay, no offense taken! Thanks for taking the time to try out my level, even if it wasn't exactly your cup of tea.

Ok, so I just downloaded this level like 20 minutes ago and I've already beaten it 3 times trying to improve my death count. This is a FUN level. I haven't gone out of my way to get all 20 trinkets yet, but none of them look particularly difficult. Great graphics and custom music too. Absolute banger level, amazing job.

Really fun level with a lot of interesting concepts and gameplay. It is relatively difficult and decently long, but it's still very good. I managed to get 16 out of the 18 trinkets here. Great level.

By the way, I like the World's Hardest Game reference you put in one of the rooms. Best flash game, prove me wrong.

Nice! Sorry about the issue with the screen 6 skip, a little bit before you made your last post I noticed it and already fixed it. My fault for not playtesting that part lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you're playing on the version before I nerfed the gravity line dodging warp wiggle section on screen 5. Just curious, do you find that part harder than everything else? When I was playing this level myself before I nerfed that part, it seemed stupidly difficult and obnoxious compared to everything else. I didn't want to have anything else like the god-awful section at the end of screen 2 of SDKLC, so I decided to nerf it by pushing the middle warp a bit into the wall. Do you think I should undo the nerf or leave it as it is now?

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the level!
I will return alive from the spooky mansion, trust me.

Alright, good luck for when you do try it! I have not beaten this level legit myself yet, but I'll probably give it a try soon.
I doubt this is that much harder than anything in the first 5 zones of Supernova. This is a very hard level, but I don't think it's really comparable to pretty much anything in the second half of Supernova.

I do find this custom to be a lot better than SDKLC, so there shouldn't be any luck-based garbage like the last part of the second screen in SDKLC. There are parts I would say are a bit harder than others here, but nothing as stupid as that part of the original.

As for my progress on Supernova,

Second to last checkpoint of Zone 5.

Yeah, I haven't really been playing it much lol. I watched Not Sure's playthrough of it though so I've seen all of the second half. Maybe I should get back on it.

(10/21/23 EDIT) Hello. Over the past couple of months or so I've been working on a huge update of this level that polishes, changes, and completely reworks a few things. Like SDKLC, I will be keeping the original version up here for purposes of preserving history, but it is ESPECIALLY not recommended to play the original version of this level (2/24/24 EDIT - Not anymore; the old version of this level has been deleted along with the old version of SDKLC. The old version of this level I find really embarrassing in particular, and I don't really think it or old SDKLC are levels that need to or even really deserve to be preserved.) Updated version is the new and official version of the level.

Changes include:
-Most if not all frame perfect jumps have been removed and either nerfed/replaced with better obstacles, level is overall much easier now
-Screens 3 and 5 have been completely remade from the ground up, the original screens were not very good to put it lightly
-A separate practice area with each individual screen has been created
-Fixed all single tile walls as well as got rid of all ugly backing, level looks much cleaner now
-Got rid of all the memey shit, this includes most of the terminals and the entirety of the break and "secret ending" rooms. As I've been making plans for a third level in this series I've realized that it is absolutely not the direction I wanted to go in with these levels at all. Additionally, none of it is funny in the slightest.
-Like SDKLC, custom music has also been added here! I compiled a small playlist of all the songs I used in this level which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLo6PfaBBDuM4wsUnofqiO3fh1JHRhPXEA
Death Grips - I want it I need it (Death Heated) (Instrumental)
Exmilitary (2011)
Death Grips - Hunger Games (Instrumental)
No Love Deep Web (2012)
Death Grips - Lil Boy (Instrumental)
No Love Deep Web (2012)
Death Grips - 5D (Loop)
Exmilitary (2011)

It looks like the vvvvvvmusic.vvv file is far too big for distractionware, so I had to upload the updated version of the level to Mega, here's the download: https://mega.nz/file/w3kT2CaA#KDhHTPrPTCsAB22GhjfSciXJSPfOMSNEFFT-i5sc254

I believe that's about it, have fun!

(ORIGINAL POST)
Hello all. This is the third custom level I have created for VVVVVV. This custom is the official sequel to my first level, Somewhat Difficult Kinda Long Checkpoint (or SDKLC for short). While SDKLC only had three screens, this custom has double the amount; it has six screens that include difficult gameplay. The first three screens of this level start off difficult but not too hard, and the last three screens spike in difficulty more. Once again, as the title suggests, this level is just one difficult pretty long checkpoint. It is much harder than the prequel, hence the "Actually" in the title instead of "Somewhat". Unlike SDKLC, this level actually includes a practice area located underneath the first screen that allows you to practice any of the six screens in the level. Use it if you would like.

That's about it, and just so you know, touching the warp token at the winroom is inadvisable. Also, terminals are your friends.

Good luck to everyone who tries this, and I'm sorry Balneor.

Edit: Made small nerfs to screen 5 due to some stuff being way too hard.

Edit 2: Fixed an issue with the teleporter that leads to the first screen in the practice area + made one more nerf to screen 5 + fixed an issue with the warp at the end of screen 5 that leads to screen 6.

Wow, this is a super impressive first level. Super creative ideas in almost every single room. I would say your difficulty rating is pretty accurate, this is slightly harder than Golden Spiral. Really fun challenge.
By the way, the custom music is an absolute banger. Whether it's an original composition or ripped from something else I don't know, but either way I love it. Great job.

Alright, so D.S.S. 324 is pretty cool. It has some cool but simple designs, and very little actual gameplay. It's still pretty nice though, I like it. Space Colony is pretty much the same thing, but I'm pretty sure it's unbeatable because there doesn't appear to be any crewmates in the level (maybe I'm just dumb though). Overall nice levels, great job.

Hey, I'm not sure if it's just me but I think you forgot to put the levels in the zip. It says the folder is empty.

God-tier level.

Not sure if my ears will ever recover from the trinket and crewmate collecting sections.
