Everything else / Re: lets play VVVVVV
June 06, 2012, 04:42:40 PM
You could just edit your other post.
Also, in your last post, the "hyperlinks" you put aren't hyperlinks (clicking in them won't open the site), they are just normal text.

EDIT: Didn't you already make a thread about this in the VVVVVV board, or is it about other series of VVVVVV videos?

I also tried the bigger than (>) and smaller than (<) keys (if that's what you said) and it didn't work.

VVVVVV / Re: Meaning of VVVVVV

Both have a +1.

I don't know if Terry counted the spikes, but he seems to have counted, according to his post:

Quote from: Terry on May 02, 2012, 10:23:26 PM
It's about time someone noticed! :viridian:

If various members of this forum can count the spikes, Terry can do it too (I read an old thread of a spike counting contest).

Also, how did he find "interesting" dates that add up to 7812? :o
Also, I don't remember any 1942 (or any date) written on any terminal (if that's what he/she wanted to say with "computer")

EDIT: Was any modification made on the VVVVVV main game in v. 2.0 that changed what terminals said and/or added new terminals? I haven't played the main game in 2.0 so I'm not sure.

VVVVVV Tech Support / Problems selecting tools
June 04, 2012, 08:33:39 PM
In the level editor, after I press space to show the toolbar, I can't select tools with the arrow keys. Instead, it moves between rooms. However, I can select tools with the number and letter keys. Is this a glitch? Am I using the wrong keys?
Note: I use Mac OS.
Note: I use version 2.0.

The fact that there aren't more updates doesn't mean that people will stop playing and talking about VVVVVV :viridian:. Consider console games: they never (or rarely) get updated! So, don't be sad!

VVVVVV / Re: Level editor suggestions
June 04, 2012, 06:23:31 PM
There already is a thread for level editor suggestions, and it's organized: http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=484.0
(By the way, how do you make hyperlinks showing a title instead of the address?)

What about making different types of levels ("normal" levels, time trial levels, polar levels who can only be accessed by warps in levels by the same author...)

An even better suggestion is to have a time trial for every level, having the par time always defined. However if that's too complicated, I like your idea.
Also, I think it's better to make normal dimensions and polar dimensions in the same level, instead of making one dimension per level and linking various levels.

EDIT: Is it a good idea to bump an old topic, just to avoid having 2 threads with the same topic?

EDIT 2: I have new suggestions:

  • A 2x2 brush, in case you want to draw as thin as possible, but don't want to have bad level design.
  • A selector tool that allows to select an area and move all the objects in the area at the same time.
  • A menu showing all the colors that exist, letting you choose better the colors. The same for tilesets.
  • A script that changes warp directions while playing the level.
  • A script that changes the tileset while playing the level (again, like the one used in the Final Level in the main game).
  • Roomtext boxes with more than one line.

This thread should be moved to the VVVVVV board.
Also, you should put a link to your account showing all the VVVVVV videos you've made (the others don't show in the related videos list).

Bump! Does anyone know about this, or is curious about this glitch? I'll check if it works on version 2.0 when I have it.

I don't find this glitch anywhere on the forum, so, I guess I'm the first that posted about this.

VVVVVV / Re: The Gravitron
June 01, 2012, 06:37:39 PM
I concord, the 30-20 sec. part is the hardest. The last time I've tried the normal Gravitron (3 months ago):

60-50: 0 deaths
50-40: 1 death
40-30: 1 death
30-20: ≈15 deaths
20-10: ≈8 deaths
10-0: 2 deaths

This also the hardest part on the Super Gravitron, as I said on the "VVVVVV records" thread.
I don't urdestand what you said about the 10-0 sec. part. What does the amount of deaths on the other has to do with the amount of deaths in this one? ???

VVVVVV / Re: Hardest trinket poll/Trinket Order
May 29, 2012, 06:06:02 PM
10 days, 12 votes and 11 of them were made in the first 6 days.
Nobody voted for Prize for the Reckless! :o It's the same thing for Purest Unobtanium and the 2nd Trinket of the Tower! Why?

Everything else / Re: 2 Edit Buttons?
May 28, 2012, 06:32:54 PM
I found it in SMF website (in FIQ's post). If anyone is curious, here it is:
The "Modify" button is for the Normal Edit, the other one is for Quick Edit. The benefit for the Quick Edit must be that it doesn't need to refresh a page. However, like I said in my previous post, you'll need to insert the code for inserting smileys, formatted text, etc. It's like a Quick reply (to insert a Quick Reply, go to the bottom of the page). The Normal edit lets you insert smileys, etc. with one click, but it needs to refresh the posting page, just like the "Normal" reply.

EDIT: I discovered that when using the Quick Edit it also shows the date of the last edit. I edited now using Quick Edit.

Everyone, read my previous post, I've edited it and it may be interesting (I posted this one so that people will look at the edits).
#643
No, I mean that (spoiler, highlight to read) he can only touch the checkpoints by touching it, but he can do it while flipped relatively to the checkpoint too.
#644
Another one: You can touch checkpoints while in air, and while Viridian is relatively flipped to the checkpoint. This can be useful for the Final Level. I think this is unfair and that Viridian should flip before hitting those checkpoints. Not sure if this is cheating, though. Perhaps the developer already knows this...

VVVVVV Tech Support / Warp Room Time-Trial Glitch
May 25, 2012, 09:35:41 PM
Note: This works in version 2.1 (and probably every version before this one).

How to reproduce the glitch:

  • Go to the Time Trials and choose Warp Zone or Final level.
  • Go to a room that warps (vertically or horizontally)
  • Move Viridian so that half of him/her is on the right (top for vertically warping rooms) and the other is on the left (or bottom). This doesn't work every time, so you Viridian has to be in a exact position.
  • Press Enter to restart the level

If you choosed the Warp Zone, it will show you the room to the right before it restarts (the room above for vertically warping rooms) with Viridian in it's last position and a grey Viridian floating. If you choosed the Final Level, it will show you the bottom-right room of Dimension VVVVVV.

I just saw seaking177's reset glitch video (for the 3DS) and I noticed that Viridian needed to be half on the right and half on the left and that after he quitted Viridian started in the bottom-right room of Dimension VVVVVV.

EDIT: I would like to know if this works in version 2, so, can someone try to reproduce this glitch in v.2?

EDIT 2: Read FIQ's post, this glitch works in 2.1.
