VVVVVV Help / Re: Is this possible?
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:56:40 pm »
I think I understand what Lollipop means. This was done in tOLP1. It requires internal scripting though. Basically, the rooms have to be arranged 2*2 like this:

BC
AD

Room A is a room with an entrance to room B. (It can also have entrances left and down.)
Room B has no moving enemies or platforms and only one exit (downward). However, entering it triggers an internal script which teleports the player to...
Room C, which looks exactly like room B but it technically one map square to the right. Exiting the room takes the player to...
Room D, which in addition to the obvious upward entrance can have entrances rightward and downward.

This can be arranged how you like, really. Just remember that AB must be connected, CD must be connected, BC must look exactly the same, and B must teleport you to C.
Like this? Okay.
I thought Lollipop wanted this:
B
A
A:
_
B:
-
And then A when you go back:
&
Which is not possible.
Here is a more detailed tutorial on how to do this:(obviously, only an example)

Where you start.

The room you go to. These are the scripts.

The identical room.

The completely different room.
Scripts:
1:
Code: [Select]
iftrinkets(0,2)
(empty line)
2:
Code: [Select]
say(2)
gotoroom(1,0)
loadscript(stop)
text(1,0,0,4)
(empty line)
Pay attention to the cords, the script names, and pretty much everything.
I assume you know how to script.
Things you could change:
room cords
room designs, other than the entrance and exit
script names
the amount of empty lines in the first script
the position of the second script
And a lot more. Here are the things that need to remain consistent:
the first script going to the other one
gotoroom(note that the cords start with 0,0. 0,0 is 1,1 to you.)
the single empty line after text(1,0,0,4)
text(1,0,0,4)

 :D
loadscript(stop)
And a lot more. Here are the things that need to remain consistent2:
 :D
only qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm1234567890 for iftrinkets
say(1)
...I think that's all.
Or in internal scripting:
text(gray,16,200,1)
...I think that's all.
endtext
endcutscene
untilbars
loadscript(stop)
:D<I used that smiley a lot in this post. Wow. :verdigris:
Hope that helps!

 ???
I don't think that it's possible to have a level where you start in a room, go to another room, then backtrack to a different room, when you only have two rooms.
If you meant something else, then... please tell me (well, us) in detail.

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Ascost: a new level by Sergione (1.3.1)!

 ;D
I like it a lot. Good job, Sergione and ShinyWolf07! You two did a great job!
For the things Sergione created:
Creative, pretty cool level design and balanced difficulty. It's not too hard, for sure. (I don't know if it could be considered too easy)
sw07 natually makes good levels and good edits to levels, so this is not too surprising. A good quality work, as usual.
Keep going!

You can get stuck at the top of the screen.

Flipping in midair. I think this is unintended.

This can happen.

Nice. Going through the walls needs attention, but it's quite fun to do so. Maybe make something that allows you to do it in the final game, please!

Sorry. :victoria: I was kinda influenced by rage when I made that.
Okay.
However, you made it way too EASY in your version. No. Bad. Here is a fix that only fixes "Spikes in the Side" because everything else is fine.
Okay then. I made an edit to make the level harder.

Just a joke about internal scripting. Any comments on the new version?

YUMAKASEKONDWONDEORIGNLWUZHRDENOF :-X :victoria: !!!
But seriously, this is insane. The original was pathetic compared to this.
Enemy Lanes: The enemies made the time it took for me to go through this go from 5 minutes to, like, half an hour.
Spike in the Side: HOW DO YOU PASS THIS??? It was very easy in the original.
Enemy Lane IV: SO ANNOYING. I think you should only have one pair of enemies.
Is this Harder?: Yes it is. Arrgh!!!
Otherwise, it's okay.
*STARTS EDITING THE LEVEL*

Okay, I'm finished with my version of the level.

FEEDBACK!!!

Are pretty good!
:viridian:
FEEDBACK ON THE LEVEL:

Just so you know: this feedback is HEAVILY based upon the fact that I had no idea of what was going on, nor knowing where to go.

-== Feedback ==-

Level Originality: 0/10?  The rooms were either too empty or big to tell.

Level Design: 1/10 Like I said, too empty or big. On top of that, there were WAY too many areas where you had to up and back down, with no hazards in sight. Pointless.

Roomnames: 5/10  The roomnames were okay.

Story: 1/10 Story was present, but not understandable. I found myself running into scripts I had ALREADY found, such as the script where Viridian says "Help" for no reason,  ??? MULTIPLE TIMES. Please fix!

"Fun Factor": 0/10 I had no idea what the heck was going on. Not fun at all.

-==Sorry if this rating is really hard, I just didn't understand anything.  :-[ :(==-

-==OVERALL RATING==-

7 out of 30

aka:  C-

I fixed the flag problem and made more rooms have hazards.
I don't know if this is going to do anything good, but oh well...
Off topic
What would your score be for a level that's so horrible that it deserved -1text1004? 8)

VVVVVV Levels / VVVVVV Adventure - time to explore another dimention!

After Viridianclone turns good, the crewmates go back onto their ship... when yet another interference forces them to get into their new escape pod and go to the nearest safe place.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned...
Only Violet managed to get in the pod before the other crewmembers are teleported away. Fortunately, the place the crewmembers were teleported to was close enough to the place Violet went. They're in the same dimension!
And here's where gameplay starts:(oh, and this is also where the actual level starts. The story isn't in the level.)
wakes up to find in another level. After  :viridian: finds a warp token,  :viridian: goes to Violet.
:D
I know that I'm not too good at editing.
Here's the actual picture:
Wait, 5 crewmates remain??? ???
What? ???

So here's the updated script then:
*gravel*
say(judge)
Court is now in session for the trial of Doctor Violet.
say(prosecutor)
The prosecution is ready, Your Honor.
say(Viridian)
The defence is ready, Your Honor.
say(judge)
Very well. This is your first time as a defence attorney, right, Viridian?
say(player)
Right, but I did have trials before.
say(judge)
Same thing for you, right, Viridianclone, but as a prosecutor?
say(prosecutor)
Yes, same as Viridian.
say(judge)
Both of you know what this trial's about, right?
say(player)
Today, a green Villi named Cookie got killed. Cookie is a very unlucky Villi that can flip but can't jump, unlike most other Villiss.
say(player)
Because Cookie had no friends due to Cookie's wierdness, Verdigris wanted to meet Cookie and make friends. However, before Verdigris arrived, Cookie was killed by a V-gun (A wierd V-shaped gun) that was fired by a purple Villi.
say(player)
However, the Villi didn't seem normal. I bet it's a disguise to make us think it's Violet. In fact, Violet was with Verdigris at the time. Unless if there were two shots, Violet can't be guilty.
*gravel*
say(judge)
Indeed. Viridianclone, your first witness?
say(prosecutor)
Yes, Your Honor.
*witness*
say(prosecutor)
Your name and occupation, please.
say(witness)
Kewu Sharende, doctor.
say(player)
(Doesn't sound like a good name...)
say(prosecutor)
Very well. Your testimony?
*testimony(moderate)*
say(witness)
I was going for a walk after a tiring day of work when I saw a purple Villi pointing a pistol at a green Villi. I'm sure said Villi is the defendant!
*end testimony*
say(judge)
Very well. Your cross-examination?
*glare (player)*
say(player)
Yes, Your Honor. *questioned(player)*(<the sound effect played when Phoenix fails to know the victim's name in 1-1) *worried(player)*(<Sweaty face sprite)(Is there a contradiction anywhere???)

say(player)
I thought... *stare point (player)* it was a V-gun!*music(objection)*(<I like 2001, but you could use any Objection theme)
say(judge)
Yes, it was a V-gun. Care to explain how you thought it was a pistol?
say(witness)
Um... it looked like a pistol...
say(judge)
I'm starting to doubt you, witness. *gave hit (judge)*(<sound effect when someone yells at someone else)Give an accurate testimony!
Yes,yes.
*testimony(allegro)*
say(witness)
Either way, the defendant shot the victim.
say(witness)
Here is a picture to prove it.
*evidence added: Picture: A2*
*end testimony*
say(player)
Hmm... the purple Villi in this picture is rather strange. Why?
*took hit (witness)*(<how the person yelled at reacts)
say(witness)
What? That's how the defendant looks!
*gave hit (player)*
say(player)
VIOLET DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THAT!
say(player)
And what if it's not Violet? Any purple Villi could've done it!
say(witness)
So who did it? Nobody else could've done it.
say(player)
Something tells me... *reveal (player)*(<the sound effect played before D.Gant's second breakdown) IT WAS YOU!!!*music(pursuit)*(<Any one would work, but I like Cornered)
say(witness)
*took hit (witness)**stare (witness)* WHAT? YOU LITTLE...
say(player)
So it's true, right?
say(judge)
*gave hit (judge)* Viridian! Do you have anything to back it up?
say(player)
*happy (player) Yes I do. Look at the picture! It looks like a disguise! And the witness was very close to the scene of the crime!
say(judge)
That isn't evidence!
say(player)
It's logic! Only the witness could have done it!
say(witness)
H-H-How about Verdigris? Maybe Verdigris somehow did it!
say(player)
Unlikely.
say(witness)
B-B-But Verdigris might've been the victim's girlfriend!
say(player)
Girlfriend? Sorry, but Verdigris already has a love interest... the defendant!!!
say(prosecutor)
W-W-What??? Focus on Violet!!!
*breakdown (witness):
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *took hit* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *sad sound* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *questioned* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
breakdown over*(<no unique sprite needed)
*witness exit*
say(judge)
Well, Viridianclone?
say(prosecutor)
*worried (prosecutor)* T-T-The witness has been arrested and taken away...Your Honor.....
say(judge)
Very well. Viridian? You did great.
say(player)
Thank you, Your Honor.
*gravel*
say(judge)
Now it's time to declare my verdict.
say(judge)
I declare the defendant, Doctor Violet....,
*Not Guilty*
Cue confetti once again.
Oh, and make F.Sawhit the witness and culprit, if possible. Then make his breakdown sprite the same as his B.Sprite in 1-1.

Here are some sprites that you can use.
Here are what they represent:  :):( , worried(AKA sweaty face),  :o ???  :-X:P :-[:verdigris:  :violet: , pointing,  :verdigris: :violet: pointing, deskslam,  :verdigris: :violet: deskslam.
Can you do that?

Awesome :viridian: !
I wanted to make it too, but errors with internal scripting... :-[ ?
No, not in VVVVVV. In a PW casemaker!  ;D
That would be awesome too! And the sound effects would be right there.
(make Maya the defendant if possible, and Winston the prosecutor if possible)

say(prosecutor)
Yes, Your Honor.
*witness*
say(prosecutor)
Your name and occupation, please.
say(witness)
Kewu Sharende, doctor.
say(player)
(Doesn't sound like a good name...)(<what Viridian thinks)
say(prosecutor)
Very well. Your testimony?
*testimony(moderate/allegro(VVVVVV,Investigations)*(<Predestined Fate. I'm planning to make this a game with music from all AA games, so yeah.)
say(witness)
I was going for a walk after a tiring day of work when I saw a purple Villi pointing a pistol at a green Villi. I'm sure said Villi is the defendant!
*end testimony*
say(judge)
Very well. Your cross-examination?
*glare (player)*(no need to do this)
say(player)
Yes, Your Honor. *questioned(player)*(<sad sound effect) *worried(player)*(<Viridian actually getting sad(basically "sad" in simplified) (Is there a condiraction anywhere???)

W-W-What else?
*deskslam (player)*(<flash)

I thought... *stare point (player)* it was a V-gun!*music(objection)*(<Pushing Onwards would fit pretty well)
say(judge)
Yes, it was a V-gun. Care to explain how you thought it was a pistol?
say(witness)
Um... it looked like a pistol...
say(judge)
I'm starting to doubt you, witness. *gave hit (judge)*(<flash) Give an accuate testimony!
say(witness)
Yes,yes.
*testimony(moderate/presto(VVVVVV,Investigations)*(<pre. fate final level)

Either way, the defendant shot the victim.
say(witness)
Here is a picture to prove it.
*evidence added: Picture: A2*
*end testimony*
say(player)
Hmm... the purple Villi in this picture is rather strange. Why?
*took hit (witness)*
say(witness)
What? That's how the defendant looks!
*gave hit (player)*
say(player)
VIOLET DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THAT!
say(player)
And what if it's not Violet? Any purple Villi could've done it!
say(witness)
So who did it? Nobody else could've done it.
say(player)
Something tells me... *reveal (player)*(<anything that's like that part before D.Gant's second breakdown) IT WAS YOU!!!*music(pursuit)*(<Positive force would work)
say(witness)
*took hit (witness)*(<flash, just like "gave hit") *stare (witness)* WHAT? YOU LITTLE...
say(player)
So it's true, right?
say(judge)
*gave hit (judge)* Viridian! Do you have anything to back it up?
say(player)
*happy (player) Yes I do. Look at the picture! It looks like a disguise! And the witness was very close to the scene of the crime!
say(judge)
That isn't evidence!
say(player)
It's logic! Only the witness could have done it!
say(witness)
H-H-How about Verdigris? Maybe Verdigris somehow did it!
say(player)
Unlikely.
say(witness)
B-B-But Verdigris might've been the victim's girlfriend!
say(player)
Girlfriend? Sorry, but Verdigris already has a love interest... the defendant!!!
say(prosecutor)
W-W-What??? Focus on Violet!!!
*breakdown (witness):
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *took hit* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *sad sound* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *questioned* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
breakdown over*(<no unique sprite needed)
*witness exit*
say(judge)
Well, Viridianclone?
say(prosecutor)
*worried (prosecutor)* T-T-The witness has been arrested and taken away...Your Honor.....
say(judge)
Very well. Viridian? You did great.
say(player)
Thank you, Your Honor.

Now it's time to declare my verdict.
say(judge)
I declare the defendant, Doctor Violet....,
*Not Guilty*(<Words in gray, backgroundtext used)

Cookie is a very unlucky Villi that can flip but can't jump, unlike most other Vs.

That would be after the final trial, I guess. 8)
