VVVVVV Levels / Re: White Palace
November 26, 2023, 11:32:58 AM
This level if fantastic, it is my favorite hard level without a doubt, and i don't understand how you can publlish such a masterpiece as your first level. That's like stupidly impressive. The level has, the atmosphear, the room design, the difficulty curve, the original and well done use of a "new" mechanic involving small gravitylines. This level is incredible, and does design in a way i couldn't handle for so many rooms. I think this level is the peak of what good design can be. I'm not done with editing the footage i recorded of the level, but here's the first part of my gameplay of white palace :

Potato trip is a level where you go on a adventure with ... potatoes. This level is a joke with little thought put into it. Have a nice time! :potatoes:

VVVVVV Levels / Re: VUNGEON ! Full release on early october !
September 15, 2023, 07:20:37 AM
Hello everyone it is me again, to say that Vungeon will be out on its full version in early october.
The level has doubled in size, and it is now the level with the most amount of scripts. I'm happy that this long journey has lead to such a level, and i would not have been able to do that without the help of the community. If you want to know what i've added to vungeon, check out the trailer that i just made.
With all that being said have a good day !

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Break the / parallel
August 15, 2023, 12:45:20 AM
Hey, just to say here that i don't recommend anyone to play this level. I have in mind to make a big level that will contain the puzzles of break the parallel, so if you don't want to be spoiled on this futur level and have a full enjoyable experience, i really recommend that you don't play at all the level.

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Spring 2023 Contest Level Submission
August 09, 2023, 10:01:08 AM
So that is my feedback about this level.
Contest by Blu : 7.5/10.
I will be honest and probably surprising, but this level out of all the contest level is the one that handles the best core gameplay design. Yeah, it's simple scripting wise, but the difficulty is consistent, the trinkets are mostly fair but challenging and every room has unique design, which is really, really impressive. I played a lot of non custom levels recently and this level handles perfectly what a lot of levels can't. For gameplay I will definitely look into this level to get inspired. But the choice of not adding any custom mechanics, custom graphics ex ... has certainly made the creation of the level a lot easier, so I can't give the level too much credit for the design. As for the story, it is just viridian finding Victoria, which is the kind of story you see a bit everywhere, and finally I have to mention that the end is rushed and not that interesting.
But I still wanted to give this level a lot of credit for having the best core gameplay design out of all the contest levels

Pretty nice level, I played this level in Voice chat, and i kind of liked the level. It starts with good gameplay, but the more you go into the level the less interesting the gameplay is. The story is a little funny, and the internal scripting for a first level is impressive. But some rooms or TELEPORTERS are unfair and annoying.
So yeah pretty solid first level

I fully played the level, it's cool, even if it's not really special. I liked the music, the platforming is not too painful. But i don't have anything that i really liked or disliked. It's also probably too short. But eh it's still decently good

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Too Hot [v1.1]
July 07, 2023, 07:15:50 PM
So this level is my second favorite level of the contest and here's my opinion
SPOILERS WARNING
So there is the first place of the contest, and weirdly I have a some complains I didn't saw in the judges reviews.
If I have to talk about one, fantastic, beautiful quality of the level, is the soundtrack, damn this ost is a banger. And it's for me the biggest strength of the level. I really like in especially hard challenges to have really good music, so I don't feel too much frustrated from dying because I know I will be able to listen to the music a little bit longer.
I have nothing more to say than the ost is stunning and it is definitely the custom level that contains my most liked soundtrack (even more than Abort 2)
And it's not really a surprise when you see the 3 pages long credits with only names of samples that have been used to make the music.
But what about the gameplay, is it as good as the soundtrack? And that's my main issue about the level, and where I have the most conflicted feelings, because in terms of gameplay it's a rollercoaster from extremely bad, to fantastic, to meh. So the start, the first zone, I have no others words except it's at the level of design as the new random username that sends a level called "challenge impossible" on distractionware. There's everything to hate in the first zone, precise annoying jump with no interesting gameplay, or at least some kind of interesting pattern. It feels like Uurg made the core map than added random spikes. So you keep dying on random precision spikes, which makes a horrible fake difficulty. And on top of that it's a maze, along side being the only zone that contains not a custom music, so what there's not to love in this first part? Almost everything. Sadly this gives a really bad taste of the level, but hopefully the second part of the level is fantastic gameplay wise, and gives you one of the greatest challenges ever made with constant interesting mechanics, where you have to understand which path you must take to complete each room, which is a feeling I love in hard levels. The precision platforming is still there, but can be overlooked by the number of mechanics introduced, that are neither glitchy or annoying in the slightest. And this part really fits the general theme of getting hot, too hot with hard challenges. But than what? We are back to precision platforming, but with timing ... Yeah as you can tell precision platforming is everywhere in the level and is my main complain. This part is still not as bad as the first part, but when you add both constant flashing lights, with tight timing, there was some rooms I hated in my first playthrough of the level. And finally, the last part of the level, has at least the timer that is really cool. But again, has precision platforming that is more annoying than anything else.
Either way the gameplay is still generally good, especially in a second playthrough but I definitely understand why people can hate the level when they first play it. It is really at least for me the kind of level you love playing after a few attempts.
Finally after this long review of the top 1 of the contest, I cannot not mention the story that is well written while working perfectly with the gameplay. And that applies especially for how the theme of the cult is handled, it is really interesting psychologically wise how the chef of the hot cult interacts with the player. The end of the story is a little funny, but not my cup of tea.

VVVVVV Levels / Break the / parallel
July 06, 2023, 04:09:59 AM
THIS LEVEL HAS BEEN REMOVED FOR MULTIPLE REASONS :
the first one is that i'm developping To the moon, a level which feature some puzzles from break the / parallel, it's only the first chapter, but it's way better than break the / parallel, so go play it here : https://vsix.dev/level/tothemoon
WARNING THIS LEVEL CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS !
Hey, it's Dynaboom4, so there's my level for the 2023 spring contest level.
As a small information, my prompts were : Six, Minigames and the choice hot or cold.
Don't expect this level to follow too much the prompts because that was not my goal at all, i was more making something for fun rather than a serious vvvvvv level.
In the end, the level became a puzzle level, and so you should expect it to mainly focus on the puzzles.
Furthermore, know that a lot of judges really hated the end of the level. And it will be reworked in a futur update along side other things.
There might be also typos. (And i left some on purpose).
Playtesters : Goat
I will remove the level temporary, because i don't want anyone to download this level. Because this level will be part of a bigger project i'm currently working on.
