("Cheesy")
Well, chili DOES taste better with cheese. Everything tastes better with cheese.
Well, mostly everything.
Although I'm not really much of a chili person myself. Without beans it's fine. Especially with cheese.
Is this even remotely on topic? The topic IS a level about the randomness of the forums, so... ::)

Dang, there's almost nothing here for a really long time, I get stuck without internet for a day and a half, and when I get back there's 8 topics with new posts just in this section of the forum. I would like to say more about things, but... I really don't have time to. I'll get back to you guys later... :o

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Dimension.EXE (1.1)

Hm. Just played through it. It is short, but that isn't a problem per se. The only thing I noticed is something that I honestly probably complain about too much, but whatever. Sometimes the floor height doesn't line up right from room to room. It doesn't cause enough of a wall glitch to really damage the level, but it stutters if you try to walk from the lower floor to the higher floor. I guess it just bothers me somehow. All that said, though, nice level, and I look forward to future creations. :viridian:

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Stairs - By Nicholashin

Honestly, the first room is the only one I find at all confusing, if only because there's so many edges to follow and no set 'path' through any of it. Mirror I figured out that with only four edges, it isn't hard to figure out where to go on from. And The Maze has a pretty clearly marked path I went through without any confusion. That's about as far as I've gotten, those were just my first impressions. :viridian:

Haven't finished it yet. But so far the main difficulty seems to be finding where the exit to each room is. I honestly ended up guessing a lot on the first room, and eventually found something.
Also, Steam updated, and reset me from 2.1 to 2.0 somehow. ??? >:(

OUCH. I bumped my head.

bump V3 xD

OFF TOPIC
It's only considered a bump if nobody has posted in the topic for 1 month
I chose Tepig. (No lie, I actually did!)
I chose oshawott because he has the most badass final evolution ever
I mean, Serperior is just a grass-type Milotic and Emboar is a Magmortar.

I don't own any of those games. Not by choice, anymore, really. They're just so expensive, even used. It's kind of annoying.
I have no clue which I'd choose from Gen V (or from the upcoming Gen VI, either). But from Gen IV, I'd personally choose Piplup. All the way. I mean, who wouldn't want Empoleon? :P Badass + Penguin = Complete Awesomeness.
/off topic (if there even IS a topic anymore... :viridian:)

VVVVVV Levels / Re: No Death Demo

That took me about five minutes. Got frustrating going back into the level every time I died, but overall not too difficult. I made it to You Lived A Good Life on my first attempt, and got from Not Bad to the end the first time I got that far.  :vitellary: is safe and sound. :viridian:

Well, I have 2.1, but A) I can't speak for everyone else, and B) like I said, I don't know how to use Direct Mode. I've searched the forums for any sort of tutorial or whatever, but I can't find one. All I know is that F10 turns it on, but beyond that nothing makes sense to me. But as I also said, if I do work on this level, it wouldn't be involving much DM usage on my part.

And honestly I should be working on my own level that I've been planning. But when I came back to college after the break, guess where I left my plans for the level? ::) I didn't have MUCH written down and not applied, but it's enough to make me want them back at some point. But I suppose not having those details (which shouldn't be too hard to remember anyway) could force me to actually consider the level design somewhat. I'll work on that a bit later this evening actually. Maybe I'll make some progress. But who knows? :viridian:

HOW TO USE DIRECT MODE:
Push F10 to turn on Direct Mode. Hold down Ctrl and a thing will appear. Use the arrow keys to select a tile. Let go of Ctrl and use 1 - Walls to place that tile. The end

Oh. Dang. I feel stupid now. Never thought to use Ctrl for anything. Therefore, never saw the whole input menu. Oops. :-[
And I'm sorry if I'm confusing anyone with my posts. I don't think I'll be doing much with this level. Except maybe playtesting it. I'm probably going to spend most if not all of my level-editor time on my own level. Especially now that I've figured out how to hold down a single button. Seriously, this will make things so much easier. Or distract me with so much more to choose from. ::) I'll figure that out soon enough.

Hm, sounds interesting. I don't know how available I'll be, or what I could possibly do that someone else here couldn't do better. But if you need anybody else, I can try it. Maybe Ill pick up on some concepts that I don't quite get already. Internal scripting, Direct Mode, etc. etc. etc. Yeah, I know I'm bad at this. I'm bad with every level editor I've ever tried to use. But this game really makes me want to make levels for some reason. I dunno. Like I said, I don't know how much time I'll have for this with college and all that in the way. If it helps matters, my main problem is that I can tend to be too detail-oriented and lose sight of the overall picture. So maybe I won't be involved much with the overall level design, but I can help with plot/dialogue/other aesthetic matters. And I might be able to pick up on some of the ways to improve my abilities with the actual important parts. Yeah, I'm kinda putting myself down a bit much. It's something I tend to do when I don't really have a plan.  :-\

Random. I like it? I dunno. Again, I'm honestly not sure what to say about this level. It is what it is.

15 Deaths
1 :shiny:
4:30 (roughly)

Overall, not bad. Kinda weird, but that's not even remotely an insult. The only part that gave me particular trouble was Primitive Security (because primitive doesn't mean ineffective). Other spots that killed me were Fallalalala (lala la la :P ) once and the whole collapsing-platform run, which I'd say got me about five or six times, so not much more than usual. The rest was just that one room. Of course, I'm just estimating. The surreal humor of the whole meta-rant early on and the odd banana-peel room (what IS it with weird levels and bananas here, anyway?) were somewhat off from the rest of the level, but that doesn't mean much to me. I'm like that all the time. :vermillion: Overall, not a bad start. Not too groundbreaking or distinctive, but certainly playable. I'm interested in what else you can do with this one.

The ending is weird. Are you planning on expanding the level?

It DOES say it's a beta...

That was interesting. I liked the alternating sequences, and the way you played the same rooms differently as each crew member. The ending was rather unsettling, and made me want to know what comes next. The one thing that felt odd was how much some of the rooms boiled down to trial, error, and memorization. Nothing new for VVVVVV levels really, but it felt like some of the deaths were impossible to avoid based on reflex alone. At least, with MY reflexes. :P

Also, I'm pretty sure it's entirely my imagination, but this is the second level you've made with :vermillion: playable, and I'm starting to think that he feels... I dunno, bulkier...? than :viridian: somehow. I feel like he moves more slowly and falls more quickly somehow, but I'm pretty sure I'm just processing the colors differently. It's starting to creep me out a bit, to be honest. :o
