I should have done it much earlier, but this is the point where I unsubscribe from this thread, a kurva Isten bassza meg! :o

Anyway, non-English cursing on English forums are fun - but I guess I would only do that in a totally insane thread where the content totally doesn't matter, so thanks for giving me the opportunity. :D

And hey, Protoman has changed the subject! :P

Az Isten büdös faszát! Why do the mods allow so much off-topic? :P

Anyway, are you really going to ship Vermilion with Vitellary? OMG...

Btw, this blog really looks cute; thanks for suggesting it!

Well... probably it should be rather written by Terry to get canonical information...

But anyway, I think all crew members should answer sometimes. Generally addressed messages would be answered by a random crew member, while specifically addressed ones would be answered by the addressed character.

Here is your first letter:

Quote
Dear Violet,

What are the flavors and colors of the lollipops you used to give to crew members? And if I'm not indiscreet, which is your and other crew members' favourite flavor?

Are inter-dimensional lollipops anything different from the ones in my home dimension? Anyway, did you check out our dimension too? If not, sometime please take a visit! ;)

Give my regards to all the crew members! You guys are totally awesome!

Yours sincerely,
MegaBrutal

Hehe, yeah, many people overlook this. I did the exact same mistake the first time I added fan-made levels.

What is an ask blog?

Fans would be able to virtually ask the VVVVVV characters and get a fake response?

My only sorrow is that it still has the V2.0 executable... Any hope that V2.1 comes through as well?

Well, it's still a beta... ::)

Yep, and it's buggy as well, but it's still better than V2.0. If I were Terry and I really wouldn't like to work on V2.1 further, I'd just release it as it is. ::) I think it's still better than having V2.0 'til the end of time.

Just about an hour ago, a VVVVVV update was pushed out through Steam!

Now the executables are there! \o/

My only sorrow is that it still has the V2.0 executable... Any hope that V2.1 comes through as well?

Anyway, the Steam Linux version of VVVVVV uses the same save files as the non-Steam Linux version (~/.vvvvvv/). That wouldn't be a problem if they weren't of different versions. V2.0 nicely reset my "disable OpenGL" setting, for example - I hope it didn't corrupt anything else.

Is there a hope that it'll be fixed so Steam will install the game correctly at the first place? Is it a Steam problem or is there something to do on Terry's part? Maybe Terry didn't supply the Linux executables for Steam. :o

VVVVVV Tech Support / Starting VVVVVV with Steam Linux
February 10, 2013, 02:49:45 AM
Now that the Steam Linux Beta is open, I thought to give it a try. Steam lists VVVVVV as available for Linux in my Library, I installed it through Steam, but then I can't start it.

It says "Failed to start game (missing executable)." - is it supposed to work at all? What I find strange, that despite the game's appearing in my Library as available for Linux, the store page doesn't mention that the game is available for Steam Linux. :o

Another game ("Half-Life (Beta)") starts successfully.

Is there anyone who could start the game with Steam Linux?

Super Hexagon / The Power of Six?
December 15, 2012, 11:08:22 PM
Am I the only one who thinks Super Hexagon and VVVVVV have quite a few things in common?

To begin with, "Super Gravitron" - "Super Hexagon".

Second, there is the number 6.
VVVVVV: Six crew members, six colors, six levels, etc..
Super Hexagon: Six-edged polygon, six stages (point, line, triangle, etc.), six difficulty levels.

Maybe 6 is Terry's lucky number. ;)

And actually, I wouldn't be surprised if both games took part in the same universe.

Super Hexagon / Re: Super Hexagon Scores?

Am I the only one who often loses in the exact same centisecond? When my record was 9:22, it happened many times that I died exactly at 9:22 again and again. I noticed it, because the game said it's "new record", while in fact I just repeated my previous one. Now I'm at ~30 (don't remember the exact value), and most times I get to "Line", but even today it happens often that I lose at 9:22 exactly.

I play the Steam version. :)

Also, about new content -- I just want to inform you that the 2.1 beta version was released ~1 year ago, and Mac has yet to get a port. So I don't think it's actively being worked on. Also, see Terry's comment in this thread (about a new version of the game, i.e. new content etc): http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=849.0

What Terry wrote there is really sad, but as I see, he posted it in January, when Steam for Linux was not even a mere idea. Now that he is going to release the game for Linux, maybe he is a little more open for investing some time in a new version.

However, I do understand that he wants to move on. I also made a game this year, and even though some people suggest me to invest some more time in it, I wouldn't really like to bother with it anymore, I'd like to move on and make another game. I'm sad, because it seems my game won't sell. :(

Well, I run Arch Linux so I simply downloaded it from the user repository there.

Technically it's still closed beta, but there's a very simple work-around -- download Steam, and run it with:

$ steam steam://open/games/

By the looks of your screenshot, you're running Ubuntu.

A quick look at the Steam package I got tells me this:
source=("http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/steam.deb")

So I suppose it's there ;) - http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/steam.deb

You should be able to download it, and run:

# dpkg -i steam.deb

I don't use Ubuntu, use Google if you want to verify my instructions

WOW, I installed it! Though it threw me this:

I guess this is the point where I should use the workaround... but I'm a bit of afraid that my account might be suspended or something... Probably I shouldn't risk... a lot of money is invested in my Steam account already...

VVVVVV is actually available as a Linux game in the Steam beta!

That's awesome, but how can I download Steam for Linux beta? I've been looking for it with no luck. And then somewhere I read that only 1000 lucky people got the privilege to try it... So I guess I must wait for it. Or is it open yet?

I've found another bug: some level names don't appear in the menu. When I try to load such an "empty" level, I end up falling endlessly to the empty space.

(A screenshot should be viewable below. - If not, please be patient, regular service will return shortly... within half a day. :P)
