Other Games / Re: Favorite Distractionware game
January 13, 2010, 06:35:54 AM
Man, it's so hard to choose. Xoldiers was the first distractionware game I played (via cactus-soft), so talk about a good first impression. Then I played DLB, and a couple of the smaller ones like DAS PUZZLESPIELEN and Deterministica. And then VVVVVV etc

Hmm, honestly, I don't know if I can pick a favorite. I think VVVVVV will buzz in my brain the longest, though, and it's so well made and polished. I'll go with that.

Hahaha, I love it.

uh oh :/ I got to the Gravitron through normal play at the second intermission, and I paused the game. it asked me if I wanted to go back to the "secret laboratory," and I spaced out and pressed yes. It warped me to "outer space" instead (just some black and grey void) where I can't get out. I can quit back out to the beginning of the intermission level, but I lost my progress on the Gravitron.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
From this interstellar port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The captain brave and sure.
Six crewmates set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

Interference started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Souleye would be lost, the Souleye would be lost.

The ship was teleported to VVVVVV
With Viridian
and Victoria,
Vermillion and Violet too
Verdigris,
The professor and all the rest
Here on Dimension V.

I'm so sorry

For me, the file immediately started downloading from the PayPal "Payment complete" page. No pop-up or anything, and no external URL.

Yeah, same here, although I didn't notice it at first because Safari tends to download things in the background and it's easy to miss. William, maybe you should check your download folder, it might be in there.

I figured it was something like that. There's a lot more to making a game than just making the game.

In either case, I'll be waiting for the Mac version.  I can reboot into Windows, but when I can I like to play in Mac.  I think it's pretty impressive by the way that you're doing versions for different OS's.  It's an extra piece of work that's often not worth it for the developer.

I agree. I'm running Windows on Parallels, but I'm patient so I might just wait for the Mac version anyway, and I really appreciate that you're taking the time to do three separate versions in the first place!

I was wondering about this too! I'm planning on buying a copy for a friend of mine as a birthday present :)

not really. a haiku consists of 3 lines. the lines have 5, then 7, then 5 syllables in them. (in that order)

Yes, I know, I was making a joke :/ All right, all right, here goes:

Up and down against
A backdrop of scrolling stars
V, the flying world.

A crew of six are lost in space.
Their captain finds that he can trip
His right side up, his up side down,
And flips the frown that's on his face.

Did I do it right you guys
