VVVVVV / Re: Combine?!?!?! (MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT!!!)
February 09, 2010, 07:17:10 PM
Well... that just another law of reasonable physics this game breaks ;p

But of course it is so elementary, you have replied to your own question and did not notice it. It is oh-so-obvious that they can do it only for very short periods of time BECAUSE the super-combine-guy is much larger than the sum of 6 V's. Maintaining the combine state requires lots of energy and thus it is used only on very rare and extreme occasions. That's just so elementary, kids learn such things at physics classes in school! =) ;) :D ;)

There's a bug that makes it impossible to get through the gap of you start from that checkpoint. You need to use the checkpoint in Please Forgive Me.

Actually I believe that you can start from I'm Sorry checkpoint, but you need to flip first so that you bounce on the bottom bouncy-line first. So you need to jump down instead of falling up. :) You must love a game where you can to such things. :)

1) Ok, I'm sorry for that earlier remark on level design, some ideas included there are great!
2) I totally love this tune, though I think I would **** ****** if I would have to listen to such a short piece looping for 2 hours =)
3) LOL at DTTHW!
4) Does the protagonist and checkpoints depict anything reasonable? =)

Oh, sorry to spoil your pleasure of good-news-delivering. ;] Didn't mean to. It's quite an impressive feat, what you have achieved in only 2 weeks.

VVVVVV / VVVVVV Nintendo DS version/remake/tribute

Look what I've found!

Terry, I think it's official. You've spawned a new subgenre: a flipping retro-style platformer! ;D

Unfortunatelly, I could not find any more info on this version. :( But maybe only because it's still work in progress and more info will be revealed later. It'd be cool if he named it NNNNNN (for Nintendo) or something, to keep up with VVVV's and YYYYYY's naming scheme. Then we could actually call the subgenre a 'flipping retro-style cool-iterative-named platformer' ;)

BTW I must say that both this and VVVV are nothing compared to the original VVVVVV in level design.

BTW2 It's funny how that guy sucks at his own game =)

Actually I think it would be easier to record only a 'session' ie. the keypresses of the player. It would probably take much less processing power and code and the session files sizes would be in KB not in MB. So, as a result, you wouldn't have to turn anything on, session would just record every time you play.

Then you can choose your best run and put its session file on forum or play it inside VVVVVV like Starcraft replay and record with fraps, etc.

Though I'm not sure it VVVVVV is deterministic enough that it would be able to play such a session file with 100% accuracy. Anyway maybe it's just a shitty idea, I don't really know much about making games...

No! I refuse! ;D I'm sorry but I find this game absurdly shitty ;D Actually, felt the same about that flying ninja thingie that evolved into VVVVVV...  :verdigris: Anyway that could be a funny topic: 'your least favourite Distractionware game' ;D

But really, how did you get so many points? Did you remember all the patterns? They seem much harder than Super Gravitron...  :vitellary:

*WARNING TROPHY TALK*

Well wouldn't it be funny if the trophy would look like a GIANT SPIKE? Veridian would come closer to take a better look, but it would be a REAL SPIKE and he'd have died :vermillion: Oh man, that would be so cruel but so funny.

Oh, right... Maybe I should have mentioned that I had Winamp on during play... ;P But that music.... Oh man! :P

LOL you're not joking, right? And I thought I had no sound because of my shitty laptop/OS :D

ditto ^_^ guess that using keyboard for most games is a habit I got from Amiga (yeah there were digital joysticks... but they didn't last long =)

I think it's the music. It's awesome, but also it gives me strange, uncanny feeling.

Wow! Great work!

Also there is a thread here titled 'Full world maps' that seems to go unnoticed, someone put there entire VVVVVV map in a bunch of pieces (unfortunatelly from beta, but still very cool thing)
