VVVVVV / Re: Blind Mode

So... the music doesn't loop properly, 3D doesn't work in flip mode, and the new remix of Predestined Fate doesn't play normally?

Sounds like par for the course for Nicalis.  :)

Oh good, I'll finally be able to give SoulEye money for Paced Energy and Piercing the Sky.

The new Predestined Fate is pretty rockin', too. I bought the 3DS port just to have it (What? My levels are in it!) but I may put in the hour of my time necessary to beat the game again just to see this easter egg personally.

no, in steam it cousts 4,99eur

and in the website 3,72eur

1,27 EUR SAVED!!!!!!1111ONEONEONELEEVENELEVENONEHUNDREDELEVEN1111111

Eur? Are you from some other country? Does the VVVVVV site even ACCEPTED other currency? ???

You know Terry doesn't live in the US, right?

Try clicking the country drop-down in the top right. Each country has a price in local currency, at a reasonable exchange rate.

@Posu: Generally, the only way to get a steam key is to buy a steam copy. If you're patient, though, VVVVVV is likely to be discounted and/or bundled on steam this holiday. Too bad you missed the Humble Indie Bundle 3.

I don't have one. Or reading comprehension.

... Just stare at the Chibi Toast until your brain cells slowly wither away and die.

So now that I'm done making VVVVVV levels, I'm useless to you?

Fair enough, I suppose.

That's the time trial mode. It says SHINY.

Think about this.
If you buy Sonic Generations on PC, you have to buy another copy for Nintendo3DS, XBOX360 and PS3.

Why? So Nintendo, Microsoft and SONY can profit from that instead of giving it away for free.

Like Terry, they want to profit from the game and I highly doubt that any company can give you a redeem code to download the game for free, unless Terry and companies authorize it , which I doubt it'll go through.

Either way, I'd like to see a 3DS version, but I wonder... what's the 3D going to be like? o.o

Judging from the (monoscopic) image in the press release, it looks like it will be identical to the original game in monoscopic mode. Unless I miss my guess, stereoscopic mode will add the illusion of depth by separating the various foreground and background layers. Kind of like this:

That reminds me, I need to figure out how to convert that to a format the 3DS can read so I can show people.

I've actually been wanting to see a game use stereoscopic sprites. Nintendo's own 3D remasterings (Excitebike, et al) weren't purely sprite-based. Maybe if it works for VVVVVV, other games will follow suit. (Not those hard-headed jerks at Nintendo, though.)

VVVVVV / Re: Level Editor Bugs and Requests
October 10, 2011, 10:51:57 PM
While these things would be nice to have, the level editor doesn't really need things that aren't already in the game itself. The few new features we do have (roomtext, trinket locks, etc.) are a nice bonus. Closing the gap between the game itself and user levels (larger enemies, tower levels, etc.) should be a higher priority.

If you come up with an idea and you think you could make a great level based on it, there's nothing stopping you from making a game yourself!

I'm sure I'll get to v2.1 soon enough.

Before I even try to play this, has "Which seat can you take?" been made slightly more reasonable? That's where I ragequit the original level.

VVVVVV Levels / Re: Soul Searching (v2.0)

You know, it's not even about my audience any more. I know most of the versions I released were only played by a handful of people.

I am a perfectionist, and as long as there are relatively easy ways to improve my level without fundamentally changing it in a way that'll make people angry, I'm going to keep doing it. It's a compulsion.

This level had a lot of single tiles and other ugly rooms. I had cool ideas that just weren't possible to execute well in the 2.0 level editor, but I did them anyway. The 2.1 level editor let me fix a lot of that, bringing them closer to my original vision.

I'm leaving the old version up for the time being for anyone who hasn't upgraded. Also, while I tested all of the new rooms, I'm not sure I completely understand direct mode, so there may be bugs.

Was it really necessary to resurrect a year-old topic to echo congratulations for a long-past event?

VVVVVV Levels / Re: "A New Dimension" by Souleye

I only noticed it because I ran the mapper on the level. The individual letters are more than a screen tall, so they look like simple geometric shapes.
