Right.

This post, however, is useless spam to increase my post count.

Then what the hell do they do, levitate? Do they just sit there? How the hell else would they be suspended in the air?

Gravity only acts on people in Dimension VVVVVV.

Oh man, this takes me back to when I was a member of a forum full of satirists, where about half of the regulars were admins. That was a really fun board in general, but one of the many fun things we did was edit our post counts.

We used to respect them, but once on person screwed up his post count, we all went crazy with it. I had the highest or one of the highest post counts before this, and I was pleased to find I could set my postcount to a negative number and grant myself a special rank for to set myself apart from the people who set theirs to stupidly large numbers.

VVVVVV / Re: Hardest trinket?
September 07, 2011, 06:48:28 PM
I gifted VVVVVV to a friend of mine recently and he kept me posted on his progress as he went. Do you know what his last trinket was?

A Secret to Nobody. Not even kidding.

The SECOND patch is gonna introduce a new format to deal with the new stuff, so I'll probably just make it so that old levels use the old style of vertical lines, and new ones position them correctly. If anyone really cares they can "update" their level to the new version when it's out :)

All right, that works  :viridian:

Haha, shit - sorry, but I can't change it now because it might break some people's levels! You'll just have to get used to it... :D

I'd say this falls under the "Don't make your levels rely on bugs" caveat. This is a bug, and if anybody's level would be broken by fixing it, that is their problem. Yes, even if they did not know about the bug or that they were relying on it. If I had a level that would be broken by fixing this, I would be totally happy to update it. Please, please, please fix this!  :victoria:

If you're really concerned about breaking old levels, then the proper solution would be to have the 2.1 level editor add a special flag to any level file it writes. If the flag is present, then have VVVVVV use the fixed gravity lines, and if it is missing, have it use the bugged gravity lines. I'll admit this is kind of messy, but welcome to the world of software.

The least I can ask is for you to graphically center the line without moving the hitbox. This would still suck, but it would at least fix the aesthetics.

PJ, I don't wish to be mean, but have you lived a particularly sheltered life?

I didn't realize I could pick three options (or was that added with the 2.0 songs?) so I added votes for Potential for Anything and Paced Energy.

I like Presenting VVVVVV, but it has a lot of competition. I didn't really think much of it before I heard Verdegrand's rendition of it, but I really enjoyed that and I started to appreciate the original more as well. It does take some time to get interesting, and nobody hangs out on the main menu for that long.

If it weren't for that guy who uploaded Paced Energy and Piercing the Sky to Youtube, I would be going crazy by now. Still, it would be nice to put them in my music playlist instead of having to seek them out when I wanted to listen to them.

It's the same way you get it in the Space Station 2 time trial.

That room's name changes to "Imagine Spikes There, if You Like" and "I Can't Believe You Made it This Far" in the time trial and no death mode, respectively.

EDIT: correction.

VVVVVV / Re: any way to edit VVVVVV music?

If I download a VVVVVV level and the archive contains a screamo metal track, I can delete it immediately and not have to waste any more time determining whether it will be worth playing or not  :viridian:

Two are added (Paced Energy, Piercing the Sky) in the editor, but I think only one (Paced Energy) is actually used in the new levels.  However I haven't played through all of them yet, so they could both be used.

They are both used. It's just that Piercing the Sky is only currently used in one, and it's used late in a very lengthy stage.

I believe that, out of the levels VVVVVV 2.0 shipped with, they were only used in Souleye's own "A New Dimension." Paced Energy was only used in a secret area you had to clear a long vertical "Doing Things The Hard Way" style challenge to reach, and Piercing the Sky was used for the final area. "A New Dimension" was very large and very good, but it seems to have gotten lost a bit among all of the other levels. Worse, I know a number of people who took one look at the DTTHW challenge and gave up on the level entirely, even though it is actually quite a bit easier than the original DTTHW and the rest of the level is reasonable.

You should develop and release two games called VVVVVV2 and VVVVVV3. Then release a VVVVVV7 out of nowhere. When people ask you where VVVVVV4, 5, and 6 are, rerelease VVVVVV2 as VVVVVV4 and VVVVVV3 as VVVVVV6 alongside new games called VVVVVV2 and VVVVVV4, while keeping the original VVVVVV as it was.

Then, even more years later, finally release the "real" VVVVVV 3.

You should then release a new sequel--not a reboot--called merely VVVVVV. Fans will unofficially refer to it as VVVVVV8, but will have difficulty indicating which title they mean in casual conversation, having to refer to it as "the new one" or "the one released in 20XX" or by description of the game itself.

Don't forget the VVVV, VVVVV and VVVVVVV spinoffs to trip up people who don't bother to count the Vs.

And BBBBBB to trip up non-English speakers who can't pronounce the V sound.

Finally, a series of spinoffs where pronunciation matters. Release a game VvVvVv, pronounced "VEE vee VEE vee VEE vee," and a similar vVvVvV. Shit, just do all 64 permutations.

I had to give it to Positive Force. It's a shame Pushing Onwards has no votes, because it's great, but I guess that anyone who likes Pushing Onwards prefers Positive Force.

I hate picking favorites, though; I would be remiss not to mention my love of Passion for Exploring, Potential for Anything, and Paced Energy. Piercing the Sky is great too, but I got a bit weary of it due to its overuse in player levels. Even if it weren't for that, I'd still like Paced Energy better.

I don't mind putting in the effort. I just think putting up a sixth revision to a 50-screen VVVVVV level makes it look like I am sloppy, or like I am George Lucas.
