Hello, just a quick question. Me and a friend are super interessted to try "at a distance". He has a Mac, i arrive with a Windows 7 Lapotop. Will the game work when we connect these two computers? is this a stupid question?  :o

If it's all about not being able to moderate it anymore, then why not have some (active) moderators? I mean, really, it's much better than this forum closing down! Maybe someone else could even take it over?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the main problem isn't the lack of moderation, but the fact that it doesn't solve anything. People have gotten banned left and right, and yet people still use the forum (and especially this board) as a forum where you can do anything.

regarding skipping I'm Sorry - yes, that IS possible but very hard to pull off so I didn't do it.
You can also skip Three's a Crowd by the same bug, which I didn't do either (but I did skip in three's a company in the final level as that one is easier to do).
As I wrote in the video info, the timer issue is due to a bug in VVVVVV. Its' timer shows a higher number than what has actually went. There's actually another topic in the forum describing this.

I'll be leaving the levels forum, and that's it. The rest of the forum will be archived.

Does that mean that all boards except the VVVVVV Levels board will become read-only like General Discussion is now?

I totally see it coming: Look at the VVVVVV board like it is right now (or even the General Discussion board). Will that be the Levels board we have in a month?
Hopefully not, as that would just mean that the entire forum would go down.
And that's not something I personally would like to see.

I've never gotten screen recording working with audio under Linux though..

Oh man, there's this one software that I know that works pretty well...Not sure about audio but it's optimized for recording games. You'll need some command line skills though. Clicky here.
Well, I got recording working just fine with ffmpeg, but audio just didn't want to work. Well, it did work, but it recorded from mic instead of computer itself.

This is a different playthrough (as I didn't record the one I screenshoted), the fact that the Game Time counter is identical is just a coincidence.

This time, I did way better in terms of mistakes (and ran a completely flawless intermission 1), and I believe I would at best be able to shave off 10s or so.

Did several mistakes though, could probably shrink that by 1 minute without doing any optimizations on the run itself.

Process:

* Press R once you get to Welcome Aboard to get back on the ship
* Save Victoria (skip I'm Sorry by flipping from spikes)
* Save Vitellary (skips here should be obvious)
* Teleport from the ship to A Wrinkle In Time
* Save Violet and immediately press R to skip her dialog (which would make Victoria+Vitellary unrescued). In the process, you'll skip Intermission 1
* Save Vermilion
* Endure the loss of a minute due to a certain unskippable Gravitron (but it's faster than the already skipped int1)
* Save Verdigris
* Press R at the DIY VI Repair terminal to get to the checkpoint immediately
* Flip through the gravity lines before dial M for murder to skip a few seconds
* Finish the level

Ok I'm testing the hard mode. I've found a couple of tiny tiling errors which I'll have fixed very soon.

Another thing I've noticed is that when you rescue Victoria in the Blue Zone, you don't get a congratulations message, and the music goes off completely, forcing you to do the whole return trip in silence :S

I'll try and get this fixed ASAP, but I really can't see what might be causing it...
A work-around is to press M twice.
Try to remove rescueblue temporary and see if that fixes stuff, that might be what makes the game act as it does.

I always loved this level, and it's my personal favorite since I played it the first time. Great to see that the improved Direct mode version was re-released so I can enjoy it on the computer version :)

Just download it from here: http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=693.0 Then replace your current VVVVVV executable with it.

P.S. The ASCII :viridian: is pure epic. You can also see it on Mac if you run it from the Terminal.
Windows does that too if you use a terminal emulator which output stdout properly (read: something else than CMD). :P

2.01 is there for some stability fixes afaik, but as you saw, it's still called 2.0 there.
2.1 is a beta so that's why it isn't released on steam/HIB. :P

I'm all fine with lack of 2.2 but at least 2.1 could have been finished.. 2.0 has some serious stability issues (and crashes every now and then) for me and I think people other than ones active here would like a final 2.1 due to this.
