That's beautiful. I wonder if there'll ever be such a thing as picture-perfect CRT emulation for modern monitors or something. If anything could ever actually approximate how something looks on an old fashioned TV... As much as I like crisp, shiny pixel art, few people seem to remember that pixel art didn't start out that way. It was all supposed to be soft and fuzzy back then!

Heh, sod testing! I put mine up, people complained that they were too rough, I nodded in satisfaction and now they're officially done. So there.

As for all the campaigns, the current version of the game only comes with the two. You'll have to scour this thread for the "fan made" ones. All three of mine are still up on my Dropbox, so go ahead and grab them!

I recently suggested that EA rename their coming "Battlefield Play4Free" into just plain "Battlefield Free" so it'd be really confusing when Battlefield 3 comes out, but that's another story...

I would guess what with there being two "doctors" around, one might be technologically geared, and one might be the medical type. You'd want both on a spaceship! Or on any long journey, in fact. I always thought of Chief Vermilion as being the "head of security" type person... except, since he's the only one around, he's just plain security. I think he's a bit to loopy to be the leader of any kind of team, but he probably does a fine job on his own! He's certainly got the fearlessness needed to deal with space pirates or... giant space elephants or whatever hazards they normally encounter on their travels. Speaking of which, what do they normally do on their travels, when they're not getting sucked into alternate dimensions? Are they the Starfleet of their world? Or is the D.S.S Souleye a privately owned vessel, for running errands?

This is one of the things that makes VVVVVV so freaking great. Go look at a screenshot of the game that we're talking about. Then look back here and see what type of discussions we're having about it. Who would expect that, going in?

EDIT: Well, my memory is terrible. Turns out Vermilion's title is "officer", not "chief." Verdigris is the chief, so I don't really know what that means. "Officer" seals Vermilion's role as the leader/peacekeeper type, though.

We're not ignoring you! We just don't know the answer! If I had to speculate wildly, I'd speculate that.. um... since VVVVVV is a Flash game, it would usually store the same as a temporary Flash file, right? So maybe the Steam version does the same thing, meaning if you own both, they both use the same save file?

If that isn't the case, which I guess it isn't because you must've already tried that, then I guess the Steam version stores its save file somewhere in the Steam folder? But if so, I bet you can copy the non-Steam temp file over into the Steam folder, if you can find it.

See, I have no idea how any of this works, that's why I hadn't responded to this thread...

Ah yes. But a fashionable kitchen is the key to good music! Anyway, I'm kinda interested in helping out with this, if I can. Depending on who else is contributing, what they're contributing with, when it's going to be finished and other such things!

If I had a good microphone and some spare talent, I could make record a somewhat unconventional performance of Potential for Anything that I managed... but alas, I lack both of those things.

Got my 100th bandage today! Viridian, a couple of days ago. He's flippin' hard to use, though! I'm actually not pleased with how he handles... Pretty much every bonus character in the game got a major speed boost so they'd all handle close to Meat Boy himself, but Viridian was already so fast, he was made significantly slower, I guess to balance out the flipping ability... Both Meat Boy, and Viridian in his own game, have really snappy controls, so his sluggishness here feels very out of place.

(Steve from Minecraft, however, couldn't be any more right.)

But I guess I could make some videos of Viridian in action if y'all want to see it.

The real question is why you'd want stereoscopic 3D in a 2D game... It doesn't even have parallax scrolling or anything to begin with! But I admit it does look pretty neat. I'd use a room using both the foreground, background and starfield layers for maximum depth effect.

Also, 3D monitors are all the rage nowdays, so I'd rather he just make it compatible with ALL kinds if you want to go to these lengths! Interleaved, stereoscopic, multiple choice color separation, all that stuff.

You've got my approval! As long as I didn't use any crewmate names/colors that were taken or just plain bad. I didn't do any research there...

And I have one suggestion, too, if it's not too much game-breaking trouble. I'd love to see platforms that move perpendicular to their own.. axis, rather than parallel. Like a horizontal platform that moves up and down, or a vertical one that moves left to right. That would open up some possibilities. Other than that, I really can't think of anything you could add or make better within the limitations of the format!

Well, I accidently made another campaign, it seems. This one's a lot shorter and more laid back than the other ones I did. Although I did go back to replay Flipbook and Treacherous for the first time since I made them, and I didn't have too much trouble! In fact, a few of the rooms were easier than I remembered... I also found that you can play most of Flipbook upside-down if you skip the fourth rotator in that room where you fly through four of them in sequence. Doing so will make the adjacent room (Palindromic Stitches) much more difficult, as it's tilted 90 degrees - but it also makes getting to the (still stupidly hard) souvernir a little bit quicker! The room after that forces you to right yourself to even complete it, but doing so causes the remainder of the campaign to be upside-down. Still beatable, obviously.

Anyway, here's the one I just made. Nothing fancy, just a bit of fun.

I have to say... I really liked both your campaigns Rox.  They were killer, but there wern't any bugs.  Very good!
Nice names... and did I see a symbol for psychology in one of the rooms?

Thanks! The difficulty is definitely intentional. So far, the existing YYYYYY campaigns were pretty darn easy, I thought, so I wanted to have some hell trinkets and such in there, somewhere. I've got the good old Alpha, Omega and Psi in Treacherous. The latter because it totally looks like the letter Y, but I guess it's also the symbol for psychology as you said. I never knew that... Let's pretend it was intentional and I'm playing mind tricks on you.
