Actually, no- EVERYONE of their species can apparently do it. (Secret Lab cutscene, pay attention to   and  )

I doubt it's experiments - then they'd be wearing clothes.

Nah. He actually broke his spine by falling off a Terminal and rolling down ten flights of stairs.

And guess who had to carry him back up to his room? The local train conductor.
