you don't uninstall it? why would you need to reinstall it in the first place

Well, you could just torrent it; if you're into that stuff. I already bought it on my 3DS, so I torrented 2.2 on my PC.

However you end up getting it back, I suggest copying it onto a backup drive, SD card or flash drive, just so you re-download it if you switch PC's or whatever.
That's what I did.

or use dropbox so you don't have to buy anything

What platform is it on? If it's the Steam version, you can just verify the cache.
