How to select tile in direct mode on mac?

When I try to, it just switches to a different dashboard.

Actually, I think you still need to use ctrl in VVVVVV even on a Mac.

If that's overruled by an OS shortcut like you said, you can change them in your System Preferences, in Keyboard I think.
