Wow! A bit late to the party (again!) but this game is so great. The pace and mechanics are brilliant but the randomnesss of the enemy waves does indeed unbalance it for scoring.
I understand that Self Destruct was made for a competition in procedural generation so the randomness of the waves is integral to the concept of the original game and also that it's an older project, but if only this could be remade with fixed repeatable enemy waves then this would become one of the greatest score attack games!!!
Then memorisation would also become part of the gameplay and the scores would be on a level playing field.
Anyway, in pace and design it kinda reminds me of Zero Rei which is one of my all time favourites and I'm really loving this for all it's randomness  :D
