... is there any way to try to get one of the new game trophies without a complete restart?  I just finished getting the 20 trinkets and went to try a new game to make it under ___ deaths, so I made the choice of new game from the menu since there seemed to be no other new game option ...

Yeah, I feel like sending hilariously nasty emails to Terry.  So I don't screw it up and have to redo everything a THIRD time, what's the proper way of starting a New Game +?

Applekid

What would a "New Game +" give you, exactly? There are no power ups or level ups.

There really isn't a new game plus. If you start a new game, it erases the data that you collected all twenty tokens - However, the Ship's Jukebox, time trials, and the Secret Laboratory (If you opened it) will remain intact. The secret lab is accessible only from the game's menu, however, until you collect all twenty tokens in your new game.

If this doesn't work, though, go into the options, and unlock the play modes you know you attained in your last playthrough.

Hrh, so they did - right after I tried it, the secret lab et. al vanished from the menu, leading to the outpouring of rage.  Just restarted the program, and they're there.

Must have been a transient glitch :victoria: Forgive me for being minorly, umm, frustrated, given some of the trinkets >.>

I haven't tried yet, but what I understand here is that it's impossible to unlock every trophies by playing new game, without erasing the previous data ? Is that right ?
If this is right, so I see another failure in the "achievements" process of VVVVVV.

I don't know if it's a feature or a bug, but I had a similar situation. After erasing saved game, choosing PLAY from main menu caused immediate start of a new game, i.e. there was no PLAY menu (no secret lab etc).

I think it's not a really big deal. You can always start a new game, quit it immediately after initial cutscene and there you go, PLAY menu is in it's right place.
