Need some Help with this little thing

I want to make a sequel to VVVVVV, but unfortunately, I have no skills whatsoever. I will be reading tutorials, though, so, yay! Since this branches from the main game, it's going to look a little similiar (I plan to use the same tileset, enemies, and players [provided that Terry doesn't care]), and I want it to have the same properties. Anyway, there's just a few things I need to know, but I have to ask one-by-one:

1. What program was used to make VVVVVV?

1. What program was used to make VVVVVV?

Adobe Flash, at least before it was ported to C++.

PJBottomz

All right, thanks.

Now, (since only Terry should know this), what were the settings to pixel-base the field (meaning that it works with a pixel-grid instead of just freehand drawing)?

ThePaSch

Think I can answer this one too;

They're not settings per se, it's Action Script, Flash's scripting language. You shouldn't attempt to do a game as complex as VVVVVV if you're a scripting (more like programming) beginner, refer to its Wikipedia article.

PJBottomz

Hmm, halt.

I just found a thing called, "Tiled Map Editor". It looks like something that can make a similar thing to VVVVVV. And it says something about "C++" port.

ThePaSch

You're probably referring to this. It may be worth a try, but here's another thing you could do. Game Maker is pretty straight-forward and it shouldn't be too hard doing a VVVVVV-like game with it, due to its and its WYSIWYG-editor's simpleness.

Good luck on your sequel.

Here's something I threw together real quick using Game Maker; it's very messy and short as heck, but you get the point. It'll be possible if you read enough tutorials and make yourself familiar with the program. Also, Game Maker requires minimum programming knowledge, if it requires any at all.

Officer Captain

Will your game be fully voiced and in high definition?

PJBottomz

Voiced?

HD? Hell no. You can't make 2D and HD mix... Can you?

Officer Captain

Give it a y plane.
Then get some three dimensional modeling in there.
Then add voice.

PJBottomz

Holy hell, are you crazy? What do you think I'm capable of, flight?

I think I'll just use VVVVVV's level editor, after the add-on patch. It's already been set-up, I just have to use it.

Officer Captain

I'm sure you're capable of voice! It's probably beautiful, like a thousand gazelles leaping over a fence!
Oh, and modeling. Just make a single 100,000 polygon structure, good to go!

PJBottomz

Please - I could voice the characters. I'd nail it.

But the model? Hell no. I'm not too talented, you know...
