Hi.
I've played a lot with the editor, but I haven't really released anything. Therefore, I don't know if I do things wrong, or could improve with things when I design levels. Therefore, I now release a part of my bigger level.

I intend this to be a re-visit to VVVVVV with a new adventure. If you feel that this is a bad idea, please state this immediately so I can modify parts of the story and level itself to be something completly own. I'll not go into the story right now, just the level that this one includes.

I'd like some feedback on it, and obvious bugs.

NOTE THE FOLLOWING: If you decide to fire up the editor and take a look on the level, please note that I firstly intended it to be a "rip" of Dimension VVVVVV to experiment and see how much of it that I could reproduce by custom levels as only means. That's the reason of why you can (more or less) see a straight copy of the entire Space Station in it. This will most likely be removed, or heavily modified in the final version. To prevent any spoilers, I have removed every single script not necessary to do the level from it. Feel free to comment on these parts not included, but I would not advise you to do so as it's not final.

Are the trinket challenges too hard? (Spike Pit is actually the hardest trinket in the entire level that I have right now FYI) Is the alternate route that lead to a trinket a bad idea that cripples the level design? How about the room names?

EDIT: I forgot to change the name of the level to differentiate it from a final release, but you'll find it as "Back to VVVVVV".

Downloaded.

How? I must know how you got the warp-zone tileset and the outside tileset in one screen D:

FIQ

Direct Mode. :)

VVVVVV has 2 tilesets. One is used for space station and some outside parts (not the whole, though), this is used in VVVVVV for example when you approach the elephant.
The other one contains the whole outside, laboratory and warp zone tileset. I used this one.

Ok. As I read in an other post in a different subforum, Direct Mode is a 2.1 thing, correct? While the steam version is still in 2.0, I cannot use that.

Direct Mode is included in the 2.1 beta, yes.

Alright. I wonder when the 2.1 update for steam comes.

Also, Narrow path is slightly challenging.

Intended, but is it too frustrating?

Small question.

Direct mode contains strange blocks (1-way blocks, Quicker disappearing platforms, Tileset from the final level after you activate the terminal)
Are people with 2.0 able to see those blocks?

Yes they are.
The only change 2.1 did was implementing a "browser" for the tiles that already existed.
The one-way walls for example was a thing that was there in the development stages of VVVVVV and they became public first as of 2.1 due to people finding it in the tilesearcher. :P

Also, this level even uses one of the tiles you mentioned (final level tiles) - see Suicide Run is The Key To Success as an example.

More feedback would be apprenticed!

That would explain falling through the floor  :P

I just wanted to know as I was working on an intermission level with those blocks.

It would be nice if Terry implant a autoscrolling feature for the level editor, so players can make levels like The Tower or Panic Room.

If I remember right, that's planned for 2.2.

But, as terry also said, 2.2 may not be coming.

FIQ

More like, will most likely not be made.

Also, feedback please? :)

(we're getting a bit derailed)

ToasterApocalypse

Ah yes, we did get a little Off Topic.

Anyways, great level so far. :viridian:

Only reason I said 'so far' is because I have yet to get past the 'Narrow Path' room.
