VVVVVV Levels / "Unknown Dimensions" by Arkatox
August 18, 2011, 04:30:28 PM

I won't hide the fact that The Tower of Power was a huge inspiration. This level took me many long hours to make and fix all (but one, which I can't figure out) of the glitches.

I had a lot of fun making and playing this one, like my other ones, and I hope you guys will have fun as well.

I've taken it upon myself since version 2.0 came out to download all of the VVVVVV levels as they're made in case there's an accidental forum data loss or something of the like. So I've been building a collection of levels that I will be putting into .ZIP folders and allow people to download large amounts of VVVVVV levels at once.

All .ZIP folders will contain 50 VVVVVV levels.

To play a VVVVVV player level, extract the .vvvvvv file into your VVVVVV levels folder. On windows, that should be in My Documents/VVVVVV, on Mac it's Documents/VVVVVV, on Linux it's ~/.VVVVVV

VVVVVV Levels / "Spike Hell" by Arkatox
August 04, 2011, 09:33:41 PM

CAUTION: You are going to hate this level. Seriously, if the level's creator himself hates it, you'll hate it as well.

"Spike Hell" is a 5x1 level featuring pretty much... spikes and death. You don't know how many gazillion times I've had to edit it to make it easier to get it how it is now. There was originally a trinket that was used as a hint as to what to do in one of the rooms, but I decided it wasn't needed.

It took me a few days to make, and I believe my best run had over 400 deaths.

Anyway, if you're up to a real challenge:

I just decided to take a break from making and playing levels and thought I'd do some time trials. Being obviously as out of practice as I am, I ended up restarting a lot using enter. That is how I discovered that when you use enter to restart a level in time trials, the music stops. I've tried this in multiple levels, and the result is the same.

I feel proud of myself for being the first person to discover a glitch... lol.

VVVVVV / Future Editor Addition Suggestion Thread
July 31, 2011, 03:43:05 AM
Quote from: TerryI'm hoping that future versions of the level editor will allow people to use their own graphics and music, and we'll see a lot more of this sorta thing.
From this blog post.

That would be really awesome, though it could be used in bad ways. Terry also mentioned some other time the possibility of having "minor collectibles" or something in a future version (don't know where to find the quote). That could be cool, depending on what they are.

Anyway, what do you guys think would be good for future editions of the editor? I'll start a list once you guys start coming up with ideas. :viridian:

VVVVVV Levels / "Varention" by Arkatox
July 31, 2011, 12:28:58 AM

This level, believe it or not, took me all day to make, and I had a heck of a lot of fun both making and playing it. There are six trinkets, which I think are very fun to get. Seriously, never have I ever had so much fun playing my own creation. The last three rooms (Varention, Platformation, Finalia) are by far the most fun.

So yes, please tell me what you think! The first person to find all trinkets is totally awesome!

VVVVVV / Scripting help?
July 30, 2011, 07:49:46 PM
I know Terry's writing a tutorial, but that might take a while. I pretty much just want to know how to make terminals say things, since I know nothing about scripting. So yeah, help anyone? Since you guys seem to know how to use scripting....

VVVVVV Levels / "V5V5V" by Arkatox
July 29, 2011, 02:30:51 AM

My first level created with the new editor. I was originally a little confused, but Terry's tutorial helped a lot, and I figured out the rest.

So as a result, I made a level. Nothing fancy; five crewmates have been lost, and it's up to you to save them!

It's not super easy, not super hard. I just made it for fun and for people to have fun.

Enjoy!

VVVVVV / You know what's really cool?
July 27, 2011, 08:46:17 PM
I was one of the people who first suggested having VVVVVV be in one of the Humble Indie Bundles. :)

Quote from: Arkatox on December 26, 2010, 09:54:26 PM
I say just put VVVVVV in the Humble Bundle #3 and no questions asked. The HB people always make sure all games are for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Quote from: Pilzi on December 27, 2010, 08:50:45 PM
Terry didnt you want to make a C++ rewrite of the game?  :viridian:

Quote from: Terry on December 27, 2010, 09:19:09 PM
Sure, but with Nexus City and Self Destruct 2 and [other secret project] I don't see myself having time for that.

(Mind you, if it meant being in the next HiB, I could probably shuffle things around a bit. :viridian:)

From the Linux version thread.

Okay, maybe I really didn't have anything to do with it actually happening, but it makes me feel special. ;D

Everything else / SoulEye Interview

Whether or not he's gonna kill me for posting it here, it's being posted here. He's a mod, so he can delete it anyway.

This is my interview with SoulEye. :)

Nexus City / Price?
January 30, 2011, 05:58:19 PM
Well, hmm, yeah, I guess it's kinda strange for me to automatically assume this'll cost money. I know it'll probably depend on how large the project ends up.

So will the game cost money? And if so, approximately how much?

Everything else / What the Freckle?
January 05, 2011, 09:36:44 PM
Whenever I go to my profile, then choose "Modify Profile", then go down to "Forum Profile", such as to change my pic, my computer/browser (browser is Google Chrome) gives a malware warning, saying going to "the following site" may harm my computer.

We all know that trying to edit my profile isn't dangerous, so what the heck is up?

While I'm pondering this/waiting for response, I think I'll change my pic anyway by bypassing the dumb warning. BUT, if my computer crashes and I lose all my data, I'll blame Terry. ;)

VVVVVV Tech Support / Non-Steam Save File on Steam?
January 02, 2011, 02:51:11 AM
I own VVVVVV straight from Terry's website, with the install application, etc. But I also got VVVVVV on Steam with the Indie 2D Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/6915/).

I was wondering, is there a way for me to use my normal save file for my Steam version of the game?
