VVVVVV Levels / Simulation v1.01
January 27, 2020, 07:46:55 AM
Vitellary makes a simulation for adventure-seeking Viridian! Nothing wrong should happen, right?

* This level does not use custom assets. The use of internal scripting is exclusive to cutscenes.
* This level is released during VVVVVV's 10th birthday eVVVVVVent although its development started before the event.
* Staying in rooms with warping platforms for a prolonged period of time can cause crashing. Unfortunately, this is unpreventable.

v1.01
* Fix a bug regarding

v1.0 (21 downloads)
* Initial Release

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. Thanks to Balneor's assistance in playtesting this is the most playable level among mine. Terry never made the round-up post though so all the effort felt like a waste. If you really want to go through the level, you can try to dig it out.

It has been almost three years since I stop making levels.
I felt bored today and decided to make a level in 4 hours.
I think most rooms are not too difficult but the later rooms are quite challenging.

Touhou x VVVVVV: Dimension Gensokyo - http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1390.0
Difficulty Spike - http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1507.0
Fragments - http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1328.0
Stairs - http://distractionware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1410.0
If you are interested, you can try these too. :)

Although this seems a short time, I have tried my best to avoid bugs or bad level design.
That said, please give me some suggestions and point out bugs in case you face any. ;)

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

May I present you my latest level - Maths zone!! (Hooray!)

Theme: Mathematics
Design: One single zone, solely gameplay i.e. no story, minimal internal scripting
Trinkets: 12 (in 40 rooms!!)
Crewmate: :vermillion:
Difficulty: Fairly challenging

Map:

Fancy screenshots:

I will be fairly busy in life soon, so this will be my last level for the time being.
Please give me some suggestions and point out bugs in case you face any. ;)

The original version has 20 downloads before removing.
v1.1 has 13 downloads before removing.

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. It's probably my strongest level before "retirement" but its difficulty needs a lot more finetuning. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

Alright, I've made a new level again. This one is about having two difficulties in a level - Normal Mode and Insane Mode.
Don't worry, you still have checkpoints in Insane Mode, but the rooms are extremely difficult.
There is also a secret area in Normal mode, which you can find a crewmate to rescue and a skip to Insane mode!
Wish you luck everyone, I've included a lot of hints in Insane Mode and I hope they helps.

Oh and story is absence in the level. Just play :)

Difficulties:
Normal Mode: quite easy
Secret area: a bit difficult
Insane Mode: really difficult, but still easier than the Golden Spiral

Crewmates: 3 (:vermillion:, :victoria:, :violet:)

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. I consider this to be a really, really, really bad level - insane mode in particular is unplayably hard and uninteresting. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

Here's a level I made, but that's not the main point of the thread.
In the first room of Insane Mode, Viridian gets killed side spikes of the little block by moving to the right but not when moving to the left.
It seems strange to me, so I want to consult your opinion for the explanation of the phenomenon.
Thanks :)

VVVVVV Levels / Stairs - By Nicholashin
February 25, 2013, 10:48:28 AM
Super short level that based the idea on blocks and stairs.
(Oh...and I made it in half a day too.)
I wanted it to be hard, but I forgot about it too soon.
So the level is not hard.

Difficulty: Probably easier than The touhou one. I would say Medium, but some find this fairly hard...
Trinket: 1
Crewmate: 1 in an auto-room
Extra Challenge: How many round can you go around the block in the middle of Bouncy things?

Have a map here:

And a cool room here:

Thank you! Give me some feedback if you like  :viridian:

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. It has an interesting idea but is executed in a really boring and repetitive way. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

Quote from: tvtropes.orgRule ⑨: There is a Touhou version of it. No exceptions.
May I present you my new level: Dimension Gensokyo (VVVVVVersion 1.0)!!!

Theme: Touhou
Design: Separated into four parts based on 4 Touhou games: Mystic Square, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Phantasmagoria of Flower View and Subterranean Animism.
Trinkets: 14
Crewmate: 4  (:vitellary:, :verdigris:, :violet:, :vermillion:)
Difficulty: Medium, although some rooms are fairly hard

Let me show you some of my favourite rooms (my favourite is A geyser for its appearance :D):

(Yes I'm so lazy that I capture these in the level editor)

Actually, the gameplay is definitely the main part. I also modify the story to fit in the background of VVVVVV.
Please give me some suggestions and point out bugs in case you face any.
I have included some credits in a room - see if you can find it  :viridian:
(That's easy to find with level editor, though.)
Play the level now  :vitellary:

EDIT: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. This is one of my relatively better works but there are still some difficulty spikes and overall kinda dense. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

VVVVVV Levels / My level: Fragments v0.2
January 04, 2013, 01:40:23 PM
So I finally designed a new level. I integrated ideas from levels I made before to make a 10x12 level.
It's fairly large, although quite some space is occupied by the warp zone.
The level includes a "ship", a crowded "Outer Space", uncreative Platform Zone, Inversion Zone, a large Warp Zone (Maze), Conveyor Zone (like a easier Conveyor Vun), Warp Token Zone (guess what it does?) and a final, quite difficult zone.
I have a feel that sometimes I make rooms too hard. Please tell me if some rooms are too difficult.
There's a little bit of story in the level too, although my main focus is gameplay.
Thank you! I will update this for balance (usually nerfing) :)

EDIT: v0.2 release! I just attach the new version :D

EDIT 2: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. Some sections of this are clearly not properly playtested. If you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

After knowing how to prevent going back (Thanks blue626!), I finished this level.
It's a 5x5 level going exclusively horizontally.
Excluding the first room, only enemies are your obstacles.
1 not-too-easy trinket is also included.
Two versions of the levels will be put in the attachment---one uses glitch to avoid use of invulnerability while the other doesn't.
This is my first serious level and I want to see how you all feel about it.
Thank you :D

EDIT: A new version is attached.

EDIT 2: I'm removing all my levels after receiving confirmation that I'm a poor level maker. This one is in particular famously hard and badly made but if you really want to go through such a mess, I still have them backed up and I would reply to you maybe 20 years later.

VVVVVV Tech Support / Annoying bug!
December 01, 2012, 02:36:05 AM
I am designing a player level. However, it appears that in one of the room in my level, the spikes do nothing like decorations. What should I do?
