If you did just the file name, you would be piracy.
IF you did just the extension, or both, then changing the extension would break it and there is no .vvv to wav/mp3/mp2/uihiufhj converter.

Honestly I don't see a reason to leave this topic open. The original question and the followup have been answered: no, it's not okay to redistribute MMMMMM to the public. For the rest this topic isn't really attracting useful discussion.
