Lots Remain

So, I made a level with 2 crewmates, played it, saved the game, deleted 1 crewmate, then continued and saved the last crewmate. This is what I got:

And I wasn't able to finish the level!

lots in vvvvvv means 50 or more...
but i'm not sure why it's happening

Restart VVVVVV.
VVVVVV glitches like that.
When you get over 50 crewmates/trinkets, it says "Lots remain".

Editing a level after saving it and then continuing from that save is asking for problems like these... You could as well rename the save for another level and continue it in yours.

I'm guessing, by removing a crewmate, he got the number of remaining crewmates to be -1 (which would also show up as Lots), because 2 crewmates collected out of 1 means there's 1 - 2 = -1 crewmate remaining.

I haven't collected the first crewmate, only the second and after editing the level.
