well it's basically the same concept but more complicated

This is a little different, but still worth mentioning:
Get 20 trinkets
Activate the cutscene to the secret lab.
While you are in the secret lab and you are big, press R, and you should be back in the ship.
As big Viridian, make your way to the elephant room.
Now you can clip into the walls at times, but just continue going to the elephant room.
Tada, you are now there as big Viridian.

Also, it's impossible to go there as flashy Viridian, because when you press r to get out of a cutscene, your color resets too.

Actually, it is possible.
Turn on invincibility and do the thing to get flashy. (I'm thinking of pressing R at the beginning cutscene when the crew is teleporting.)
Get to the Exhaust Chute and go to the SS2 area.
Head backwards from SS2 and make your way outside.
You know what to do from here.

if you press R while the crew is teleporting but before viridian gets flashy you can play the game as a flashy viridian
